Has anyone run across the name "James LACAZE" in their research in the 1700s
in Virginia that might have been changed to Casey/Kasey? He owned a ship
named the "Impromptu".

Hello All,
On the 1850 census for DeKalb Co., TN. I have,

Elrissa age 11 W/F school b.TN.
Narcissa age 11 W/F school b.TN.
William age 8 W/M school b.TN.
What was Clarisa's maiden name? Was she married to
this Samuel or just living in the household? The only
Samuel I have b.1801 is Samuel Otterson Casey b.S.C.
d.1866 AL. married to Rachel Lawson, son of Levi and
Elizabeth Duckett Casey. Can anyone tell me what the
"Turning" for Samuel's occupation was?
On the 1830 Smith Co., TN. Census I have,
Casey,
Levi

1 male 20-30
1 female 0-5

marriage.)
and
Samuel Casey to Eliza Atwell 07/23/1857
Can anyone please tell me which lines these Casey
folks are connected to?
I have now managed to get myself really confused,
especially by the Clarissa Casey's. The LDS site has
all of them as the same person practically. Could
someone give me a breakdown please.
Any help on this greatly appreciated,
Jeanette

For any/all who may have tried to contact me in the past 2 weeks, my email
has been on/off and finally killed all my old messages, so if I owe you a
reply, please ask again. I apologize for not responding, but hopefully the
email will be holding steady from now on (knocking on wood).

Carole,
We have speculated that Abner's father may be Aaron Casey b. 1748. This is
hypothesis only at this point. This Aaron was enumerated on the 1779
Ninety-Six District, SC census, the parent county to Laurens Co, SC, where
the Turner's and Casey's are located initially.
Aaron also is reported to have had a son, John, who is thought to be the John
who marries Elizabeth Turner Casey's sister Anna. They went from Roane Co,
TN to Greene Co, MO with Elizabeth and Anna's mother and family when they
moved there so there has to be a close connection here.
The Casey and Turner family have an interesting connection as 4 of William
and Sarah Denney Turner's children marry Casey's and we have often felt they
must be siblings but have found no one with all four children in one family.
Anna Turner m. John Casey cir 1802 Franklin Co, GA (they end up in Polk Co,
MO)
Elizabeth Turner m. Abner/Ambler Casey cir 1800 in GA (they end up in Johnson
Co, AR but lived in MO for some time)
Susannah Turner m. James Casey (they end up in Perry Co, IL)
Zachariah Turner m. Mary Casey (they end up in Bedford Co, TN but some of
their children end up in Roane Co, TN)
A long answer for a short question! <g> Got any answers?

Most information that I see concerning Abner Casey b. cir 1765 SC, shows his
wife as Elizabeth Bowen. Does anyone have concrete evidence of this being
her surname?
I am a Turner researcher. Elizabeth Turner, b. cir 1782 SC, was the daughter
of William and Sarah Denney Turner. Family information shows her marrying
Abner or Ambler Casey and having at least one son, Turner Casey.
This Turner family moved from SC (probably Laurens Co area) to Franklin Co,
GA about 1800 to establish residency for the Cherokee Land Lottery. There
are Casey family members there at the same time. From Franklin Co, GA they
move to Roane Co, TN when they remain until the 1850's when many move to
Greene and Webster Co, MO. One exception is Elizabeth Turner Casey's sister,
Sarah "Sally" Turner, who married John Acord in Roane Co, TN. They are
found in Johnson Co, AR and Sarah and John Acord are buried in the same
cemetery as the Casey's.
Is it possible that this Elizabeth Turner is actually the wife of Abner Casey
and grandmother to Turner Franklin Casey?
Any help sorting this mess out would be greatly appreciated.
