I thought this one might interest our list. Taken from GENEALOGY OF VA.
FAMILIES, VOL 1 A-G
SOME DECENDANTS OF LT. WILLIAM BLACKBURN
Compiled by Annie Noble Sims, Savannah, Ga.
In the land office at Richmond, Va. in book H, page 594, it is recorded that
A.D. 1755 Lord Fairfax made a grant of land to "Arthur, George, and William
Blackburn of Fairfax Co. Va." The land granted them was in Fredrick Co.,
Va., "on Mulberry Run"
These three brothers at a much later date removed to what is now Washington
Co., Va., see pages 619, 809, and 813 of "History of Southwest Virginia", by
Lewis Preston Summers. Scores of references in "Southwest Virginia" show
that these men were prominent in the political, religious, and social life of
Washington Co.
That "Arthur, George, and William Blackburn" were brothers is stated in the
will of George Blackburn, recorded Aug. 18th, 1778 at Abingdon, Washington
Co. Va., in will book 1, pg. 13.
Their relationship is also stated in the will of Arthur Blackburn, recorded
Aug. 20, 1782 at Abingdon, Washington Co. Va. in will book 1, pg. 82.
In both wills two sisters are also mentioned; Margaret (Blackburn) Casey,
wife of William Casey and Mary (Blackburn) White.
Wanda Norman
Bev and All;
Has anyone out there got absolute proof that Harriett's last name was Green??
In my records I have a big question mark after her name.
Wanda Norman, A dec. of Abner (1), Jesse (2), Aaron? (3), Jesse E. (4) Jesse
C. (5), Christopher C. (6), Hetty Elizabeth (7) I don't put live people on
here, but I'm No. (9)
Also about Aaron, everybody says he's in this line, but I can't find any
proof.
Does anyone know from whom Jefferson Casey Savage
(son of Hamilton) got his middle name? Where was he
born? There were Caseys in Hardeman County, TN and his
sister, Jane married James G. Casey there in 1829. I'm trying
to make a connection (if there is one).

The possibility of Harriet having children 21 years is possible and there is
evidence of that happening a lot.
At the young age they started having children there could be a larger
difference than that.
MY children were born in 1964,66,68,71,78,83, and had there not been birth
control I probably would have had more.
I am looking for anything on James Robert CASEY born 1820 NC (census 1860
Wayne County, MO) married Mary in KY son George born 1844, Daughter Nancy
born 1846, and My Grate grandfather James Robert Casey JR. born 1848 KY
I don't know where in NC or KY they are from. George was a wounded civil war,
KY. Union. and a Baptis Minister in MO.
Both James and Nancy married Woolard, Nancy second married Bounds.
The names of James children were Louisa, Margaret, James, Nora Florence,
Walter, Cora. Now I don't know how many were Casey names and how many
Woolard.
but one name in the second generation was Ive for girls.
My Mother was a Catholic and my Grandmother (Dad's Mom) Told my mother that
she thought many generations back that the Casey's had been Catholic, this
was probably back in Ireland when they outlawed the Catholic Church.
There was a Thomas Casey that lived next door to James sr in MO in the 1860
census we do not know what relation he was to our family.
Descendants of Thomas Casey
1 Thomas Casey b: Abt. 1827 NC
+Nancy Ramsey b: Abt. 1833 KY Father: Mother:
2 Nancy J. Casey b: 1853 KY
2 Louisa Casey b: Abt. 1856 KY
2 Martha Casey b: Abt. 1856 KY
2 Chas Casey b: Abt. 1861 MO
2 Alice Ann Casey b: Abt. 1864 MO
2 Mahala Casey b: Abt. 1867 MO
2 Thomas Casey b: Abt. 1870 MO
After Thomas death Nancy moved to Butler County next to some of out Casey's
It looks like the families moved together so would assume they were related.
I do know that my Grandmother Nora born 1879 said when she was young that
none of the Casey relations lived in Wayne County but that her father had
relations in other county's of MO but they did not visit often as it was such
a long trip and they had to get back to milk the cows and could not stay away
long.
With the names I would think the family was probably be related to either
Abner or Peter. But there is so many CASEY'S in KY trying to find them in a
Census with no County is like looking for the needle in a double hay stack.
My Father was a seeker and sought out his roots and cousins but never wrote
it down. and I was not into genealogy He said his Casey's were from KY in the
corner where the states meet KY and TN

It is not known when Abner and his forefathers became Protestants but
since they did not
settle in a Catholic community it is believed that the family was
Protestant before
coming to America. The names given to the children also indicate they were
not
Catholic.
Response:
Peter Casey dau Hannah was baptized in the Dutch Reform Church 07 Jun 1742.
Peter's wife was Magdalene Dupuy descended from a Hugenot imigrant was 3
quarters Dutch and upbringing was Dutch.
So if Peter was Catholic which I dont think he was or Abner as to many
descendants of Abner were Baptist, Methodist , Presbyterian ministers.
But then I was told once that it was not a good thing to be catholic back in
those times because of the Church of England. Maryland had laws against it
maybe???

Just before or soon after coming to America Abner Casey married Harriet
Green, a woman
of Welsh descent, and to this union 9 children were born, viz;
Jesse (1726- )
John (1727-1816)
Benjamin (1731-1779)
James (1733- )
Randolph (1737-1813)
Levi (1749-1807)
Christopher (1754-1840)
William (1759-1843)
Nancy ?
Verylittles been found in the records relating to the daughter, however,
many
researchers agree that she grew to maturity and married Phillip
Trapnal.
RESPONSE:
Benjamin Casey 1731-1779 son of Old Peter Casey of W. V. died in
Revolutionary War.
Christopher Casey b. 1754-1840 (grandson but not proven other than there
were two Christopher Casey's in SC and Christopher and Aaron Casey witnessed
a land transaction in 1784 between Christopher Casey and Moses Casey. After
1790 neither is found in SC.
William Casey b. 1759 (grandson maybe also.)
Nancy (may have been but she was not the Nancy that married Phillip
Tranpnal she was the daug of Peter Casey of KY.
Does it not seem unlikely that Abner Casey's children Christopher and
William were born 21 years later than Randolph then Levi 12 years later
than Randolph. This would mean that when Jesse was born 1726 say Abner was
16 years old he would be b. 1710 Peter b. about 1715. So Abner would have
been in his 40s when Christopher was born this is possible. This would be a
long span for Harriet Green to have children so there may be two wifes?

Response:
Is there a document which states this marriage or her identity. Isnt it
strange that Harriet is not a handed down name in the Abner line. Do we have
a proven record that Harriet Green is Abner's wife? I have seen where there
may have been suggested two wifes?

Abner Casey, whose parents are not known, was born about 1700 in County
Tyrone in
North Ireland and came to America in 1726 with his younger brother, Peter.
They
landed in Baltimore, Maryland and lived in the Baltimore area a few years.
Responce to this:
Peter Casey may have or may have not came with Abner Casey. No one to date
has found the ship list that they came over from Ireland or is there a
record to prove this? Different sources give Dublin or Tyrone Co Ireland as
the origination. Abner's history says Tyrone and Peter's sources say it may
have been Dublin or Tyrone Co Ireland. Both families state that Abner and
Peter were brothers but we dont have the document that proves this either or
do we?
Now I have seen many articles on the Casey lines which all use the same
handed down info from many sources including me. Which when Starting this
Casey research I thought everything was the gospel until I started
collecting info on the internet. That was what 3 maybe 4 years ago.
Walter E. Casey has done a good job on his immediate family which is also
mine, Harold Casey of Oklahoma did a Casey book which can be researched from
and he brings up some good points to research from.
The easy thing is to take it off the internet but then what are you going to
do with it hopefully you will research it and prove what has been put on the
internet.

I have to ask this William Casey was born in 1859 presumably to Abner Casey.
My question is how do we know this you look at his date of birth along with
Christopher Casey b. 1754 doesnt it seem odd that they were born so many
years from Randolph, Levi, I believe that Christopher was a grandson not
the son because of Christopher Casey Sr. selling land to Moses Casey and
Christopher witnessing the transaction. I am not saying it can be but do we
have proof that he is Abner's son , I am just putting a question up to you
hopefully you have the answer I dont.

I have to ask this question Christopher Casey was born in 1754. and William
in 1759 now if Abner was both the father of these brothers does it not seem
strange that Randolph and Levi were born so much earlier. I believe my
Christopher 1754 is a grandson of Abner due to the fact that Christopher
Casey Sr. sold land to Moses Casey and Christopher and Aaron Casey witnessed
it in 1784. I am looking for proof we have had so much handed down or
researched that may not be exactly correct. Help?
