Casey Christopher 1754 SC USA
Just read my E mail about Abner Casey and success I would like to see this documentation as like others I am not disputing just curious as this may put my hunches together especially seeing a Drucilla Casey in the line of Abner Casey.
Christopher Casey had 4 Children that I know of John Casey (1775-1849), CASSANDRA ( 1787-) Aaron Casey (1792-1866) and Hardin Casey who died in 1844 MO.
There are a few facts that bother me and that in reading the older Casey lines only John and Isabelle Casey had a daughter named Cassander, Jesse Casey had a son named Aaron Casey. In my Casey lines I have only known of Two Christophers which is the one some Casey researchers said was born in 1730's and the Christopher Casey who born in 1754. Now real estate records show that Christopher Casey b. 1730 sold real estate to Moses Casey in SC and the Christopher Casey Jr witnessed the transaction maybe there is more to this than I am understanding any help would be appreciated also.
This new success on Abner Casey I would like to see it and study the names and where found this could answer some of my questions and may give new problems to all of us but that is what we are trying to do get the facts and share the info so we can make the right connections in the lines.
I am trying to prove relationship to Abner: my husband's Casey is:
Hilliard John Casey born about 1813 in SC (as per census). Family legend
states he was the son of Randolph who was the son of Moses who was the son
of John and Sarah Casey (who came of the next ship after the
Mayflower..still trying to convince my mother-in-law that is not possible!)
So far I find a John Casey who had a son, Moses but I can not prove Moses
had a son Randolph who had a son Hilliard John or John H. as it is in one
census.
Hilliard John Casey married Ruth Hicks either in SC or Tn since they are
both from SC but the first child born about 1836/7 was born in Tn. The
rest of their children were born in Mississippi where they were still
residing in 1880 census.
In the area was also a Washington W. Casey born ca 1805 SC...his first two
children were born in SC, the third in 1834 in Tn, the fourth in 1836 in
Tn, the next in 1838 in Ms...near the time Hilliard was in these areas.
Another Casey in the area is Willis Casey born 1800 SC buried in Casey
Cemetery in Benton Co., Ms...he moved to Ms about 1836...about the time
Hilliard arrived there....Willis married Hannah Inman 1822 in Williamson
Co., Tn.
Any help with Hilliard John Casey will be deeply appreciated.
I note the date of death for John Casey in the previous e-mail was 1777...I
have 1815 from previous sources. I have that Abner Casey (the immigrant)
died in 1786.
Peggy
Hi,
I reviewed your e-mail with a great deal of enthusiasm. I too recently made a
connection to the Abner Casey family, only my connection was through his son
Benjamin Casey. I thought I was related to Abner through Randolph Casey, but more
in depth research revealed my hunch was incorrect. The reason I wanted to respond
to your e-mail is that the information I have collected shows that John Casey, son
of Abner Casey and husband of Isabelle did not have a son named Abner. I would
really be interested in knowing the sources used in compiling the geneology
listed here. My worries about the completeness of my research are resurfacing.
Did the friend who sent you this information have documentation? I would really
like to look at it/ Please do not take offense at my questions, I am just really
inquisitive and try to look at everything I can. I have found it difficult to
get everybody placed in the right order in these old families. I have made
mistakes but am truly interested in getting everything sorted out correctly.
For reference, the Casey and Allied Family research compiled by Walter Eric Casey
states that John Casey, son of Abner Casey had nine children, Joseph, Moses,
Allison, Jenny, Susanna, Jesse, Mary, Casander, and an unknown Casey. Do you
think that the John listed on the geneology here is that unknown Casey? Walter
Casey uses the will of John Casey that was written on the 5th of December 1815 as
the basis of the naming John's children. I have found that not all children are
listed in the wills of their parents for a variety of reasons. Amy really
interested in hearing from you.

No Amy, I don't have an Abner in the lines yet. I also haven't run out any lines
with Hiram yet, but I know he is in the family, I will find it in time. There
seems to be a link missing in one generation. Either Sinclair's father came from
Ireland, or the link is missing to the Abner or someone else. Have not done any
research back in Ireland. I'm going to start searching ships passenger lists on
ships comming out of Co. Cork, Ireland. Certain things I have heard all my life
about my Casey clan are things like: "They came from County Cork, Ireland."
"The old man from Ireland had two sons." "One of the old men married a Shawnee
Indian". The indian story fits well because, the Casey's lived in the Mason Co.
area where the battle of Point Pleasant took place. There was a Casey that
fought against Chief Cornstalk and his Shawnees in that battle. Chief Cornstalk
was a very intellegent and his speech was just as eliquent as the best lawyer
aronnd. His mother was a well respected lady who lived in the area, even after
the battle. My wifes people lived in the same area, and her ggg grandmother was
quoted as seeing this lady on several occasions riding horseback through the
town. I suppose you know that after the battle, Chief Cornstalk and his Son
Enipsico came back to the fort at Pt. Pleasant in peace, and an army Leutenant
and another soldier put them in the stockade, later that evening they sneaked
back and murdered the two indians because of the loss of a brother at the hands
of the Shawnee in that battle a couple of years earlier. And since the Shawnee
Nation existed in the Scioto valley basin all along the Ohio river from
Chilocothe Ohio to Pt. Pleasant; and since there was a great prolifiration of
Shawnee people in the area, the story of old Casey marrying a Shawnee woman seems
to hold up. You can read all about this in Lord Dunmore's War, or The Battle of
Point Pleasant. That battle was the first battle of the Revolutionary War, Not
the battle of Lexington-Concord as others would have you think. I live about 30
miles from Pt. Pleasant and thats where I have to do most of my research on the
family, because that is where the Mason Co. Court House is. I live in the area
of where the oldest Casey's of my family lived. I don't know which wife was the
Shawnee lady. But I think she was the mother to Sinclair Casey. I don't have
anything back past him, thats what I am working on now. My snail mail address

Eva Frances Casey was born Sept. 8, 1880. She married Fred Thomas Duncan and
lived in Laurens, SC. She had four children. One son Coleman Livingston
Duncan married and had children. She is buried in Forest Lawn Cemetery in
Laurens.
I was told she was born in Spartanburg. Does anyone know of her parents and
family?
Amy, Hiram Casey is not in my book. I know he is in my family because of some
other supporting info. Just haven't run his line out yet. He is buried on what
used to be his land, and now is the Spring Valley Golf and Country Club in Spring
Valley an area on the edge of West Huntington which is in Wayne Co.. You can only
go to the graveyard one time a week on a certain day because it is on the golf
course I think around the 7th hole. My book is on Sinclair Casey 1799, Mason Co.,
VA (WV). It is 8 1/2" X 11" 164 physical pages, fully indexed with a table of
contents, 9 generations, plastic comb bound. It is $35.00 + $5.00 S&H I have very
few left. Since it is copyable material, all sales are final.

Does anyone have a Pleasant Casey (male) in their Casey family. I
have very little information on him, but he was in Jackson Co AL in
the 1820s. He died 9 November 1827 in Jackson Co. I think he was
connected to my GG Grandfather George Casey in some way. Could have
been a brother, cousin, or even possibly George Casey's Father. They
were both in Jackson Co. in the 1820s. Pleasant's horse, saddle and
bridle were sold to George 8 Dec 1827, after Pleasant died. I would
greatly appreciate any help on this.

Hi Tim,
I thought about attaching my reply to your e-mail of 1/9 but I tend to
get wordy and did not want part of the discussion to get left off. Let
me throw in the research I have come across and maybe we all can come up
the answers. By the way, I have a partial copy of the research your
cousin Walter Casey did. The research was microfilmed 3 Sept 1985 by
the Genealogical Department of the LDS Church. For everyone's reference
it is the 2nd item , project and roll # XL1B71102 #778. The GS Call #
1035761. It is an impressive resource. It is obvious that much time
and effort went into the research. My great thanks to him and the
others. It is his work that put me onto the right path to find my
Georgia Casey's. Before I get into the discussion, let me put in a pitch
to all researchers of the Abner Brooks Casey line. It would be well
worth your time to go to your local LDS family history center and get a
copy of this research. If your particular branch does not have the film
on file, they can order it from Salt Lake. It takes a couple of weeks.
The kind folks at the center, will at your request, make a copy of the
research, right then and there. The cost was either a nickle or dime
per page. A really good deal.
Anyway, for the discussion. First, on pg 13 of my copy of your cousin's
research, there is a pedigree chart like diagram of Abner Casey and his
offspring. According to the chart, the offspring of Abner Brooks Casey
were Jesse, John, Benjamin, James, Randolph, Levi, Christopher, William,
and Nancy. Now your cousin does say and I quote, " Existing records are
very scarce and there is some controversy regarding the sons of Abner
and Harriet Casey. In fact, authentic records relating to the family
are very hard to come by. Some researcheres think Abner was married
twice and that Harriet Green was not the mother of all his children but
this writer has found nothing to back up this claim." Not only do I
agree with your cousin, I would contend that the inclination of the
family to use the same name, further muddies the water.
I descend from Abner's son Benjamin. Originally I felt pretty sure that
I connected through Randolph Casey because his descendants were found in
Georgia also. With more research I discovered that John Casey's son,
William was in Georgia and my most likely progenitor.
Let's start at the top. According to the diagram mentioned above, pg 13
of your cousins research, Benjamin Casey and his wife Julia Carson had
six children, William Casey, John Casey, Nancy Casey, Samuel Casey,
Joseph Casey, and Agnes Casey. William Casey was married to Jane
Montgomery, as you stated. John Casey was married to Susannah Bilbro.
My connection is a descendant of John and Susannah. I found an old court
case through researching the Ancestry Web site databases. Here is a
copy of what I found:

THE ORIGINAL COURT RECORDS OF AUGUSTA

I descend from William and Mary Casey, son of Susan, grandson of
William Bilbro.William Casey the grandson was a revolutionary soldier.
I found a copy of his military records from a friend who put me onto
your cousins research as well. Her name is Carolyn Casey . She sent me
this military record:
"William or William Kersey, Mary, W29906 1/2, NC & VA Line, sol appl 3

there & in Bute Cty NC at enl, sol m Mary "Polley" Evans in Dec 1786 in
Mecklenburg Cty VA & sol d 26 Jun 1836 & wid d 14 Sep 1840 leaving
children; Thomas, Elizabeth, Peggy, Sally, Nancy, William & Edmund."
I descend from the William Casey of this family. William Casey married
Jane Elizabeth Nichols and had the following children, William Nichols
Casey, Nancy Casey, Thomas Casey, Abraham Casey, Tamsey Casey Marr, Jane
Casey.
Once more I descend from the William Casey of this family. William
Casey married Adeline King and had the following children, Lucinda,
Isiah, William, Maria, Tamsey, Jackson, Mahala and Elizabeth.
Elizabeth Casey was my great- grandmother. Coincidentally, she married
an Andrew Green. I do have documentation for a lot of this, but feel
that I have gotten very wordy, as usual. If anyone can add to this I
would certainly be appreciative.

Col William Casey also historians have written that Casey County was named after him also he had Caseys landing makes it confusing doesnt it. Even on the Gen Web Casey Co states the same as I have written here. I also have and article that was written in the Kentucky Pioneer and Genealogy and Records by Jerry Long, Owensboro IL and after reading the article I called him to find out he was not related to the Caseys but did the article. He also states that Casey Co IL was named For the Col. William Casey. The difference in his article and my cousins is that he states Col William was the son of John Casey, and early pioneer of Lincoln Co IL , having settled there between 1779-1784 possibly arriving with his son in the winter of 1779-1780. In the first order book of Lincoln Co Ky (1781-1791,page 189) it was recorded that on 18 June 1784 John and William Casey, served together on a jury. In the earliest tax list for Lincoln Co Ky 1787. three Caseys were listed: John , William, & James Casey. The latter two were sons of John Casey as proven by the will of John Casey, written on 28 April 1790 and recorded on 20 July 1790 in Lincoln Co Ky. Will book A. p 189. In his will , John Casey named his wife, Margaret, and four children: William, James, Agnes and Marthere (Martha): The married names of his two daughters were not stated. John Casey appointed his friend, Hugh Logan as the executor of the will.
Okay now my cousins research states that William Casey who married Jane Montgomery was the son of Benjamin Casey and Julia Carson and that Walter E. Casey is a 4th cousin once removed.
now everyone probably has read the story about William Casey saving his sister Nancy from Indians now I personally read the story by Jerry Long who also mentioned it and reading an article from Jefferson Co IL history on the Family of Randolph Casey the same story I had to go look for the article as I knew I had read it before. The article in Jeffeson Co IL is the same as Jerry Longs article that mentioned the chase.
My question to all Casey researchers is Benjamin Casey and Julia Carson parents of Col. William Casey or the John Casey that Jerry Long article Mentions. I am not trying to dispute research but somebody here is wrong and we Caseys need to decide which is right. Any reseach on Benjamin Casey would be appreciated I know that Peter Casey had a son named Benjamin who knows about him and the revolutionary war. awaiting answers Tim Casey
