Will (nuncupative) of Richard Case, who died Saturday, 22 February,
1724-5, (19) with the Inventory.
Sarah Case, widow, relict of Richard Case, testifieth: That before noon,
being the day my husband died, when my son Joseph was going to call
Capt. Roger Pitkin to wright his will, my sd. husband Richard Case said
that he did not know but that his tongue might be clipt before anybody
came to write his will, so that he should not be able to speak. Lieut.
John Meakings, Jonathan Pitkin and Joseph Easton, Jun., being present,
he called Lieut. Meakins and Joseph Easton by name and said: "I desire
you to take notice or beare witness that I give my son Joseph all my
lands and all my estate, and that he shall pay the girls, which I
understand to be my two daughters, œ35 apiece, legacies in money. And I
give Carter one acre of land at the upper end next to William Bidwell,
16 rods long. I believe Carter has had about œ20 already. I also give my
wife a good maintenance out of my estate." When asked if he did not give
Carter 2 acres of land as he used to tell of, in his next division, he
replied "Aye." (26 March, 1724-5.)
