I am a descendant of Francis Case who emigrated from England to
Newfoundland. He then married Ann(?) from Newfoundland. That is all I know
about them except they had at least two sons Samuel and Manuel. I assume
that after the death of Francis both of the sons moved to Nova Scotia
bringing their mother with them. They were both shipbuilders and married
woman from the Nova Scotia area. Samuel the older brother stayed in the
Nova Scotia area but Manuel who was my great-grandfather moved down to
Massachusetts about 1882 with his wife following after the birth of their
daughter May. They lived in Chelsea and Everett. Do you think that there
is any family relation here? Have you discovered any relation with the name
Francis? Would love to compare notes with you.
Thanks

Subject: [CASE mail list] Case Family
Hello all -
I'm a descendant of the Case family descended from James Case, who
emigrated
from England to Newfoundland in about 1803. He settled in the
Trinity Bay
area (Salmon Cove, Carbonear, Bonavista Bay, etc. -- the Avalon Peninsula
of
Newfoundland) and many or most of his descendants stayed there for
the
next
100 or so years. They worked primarily as fisherman and sealers,
regularly
sailing to Labrador for the seal hunt. Somewhere in the 19-teens one
of
the
descendants, Samuel Amos Case, resettled in St. Johns, Newfoundland;
then
in
about 1926 Samuel and his wife, Mabre Jane Parsons, and children
moved to
the Boston, Massachusetts area. As late as 1935 there were still
apparently
lots of Case families remaining in that area of Newfoundland, but I
don't
know if they are still there. I'm looking for any information about this
family, and whether James somehow ties in with some of the other Case
families being discussed by this genealogy group, that apparently trace
back
to the 1600's in the U.S..
Thanks for any help given --
Best regards,
Barbara (Case) Tribble
