George Rogers Clark recruited his men for the Vincennes expedition from
"Corn Island"now Louisville, so the territory was obviously under the
control of the Americans.
There was a William, James, and John Case, in the settlers at Cox's
station, 30 some miles south of the falls of the Ohio River(Louisville) and
6 miles north of Bardstown, in 1780-81 timeframe. They are on the tax and
militia rolls of Cox's station.

Looking at the dates of the Jefferson County, Kentucky
Court, does anyone know how the particular Cases
mentioned found their way out there 5 years after the
Decl. of Independence and long before the War of
Independence was over? Was this territory in the hands
of the British or the Americans. Any guesses? The
historical context is as fun as the name search.
