Although I am not related to the Case family of Manchester, Washtenaw Co.,
Michigan, I do have interest in them. I am a genealogist and historian and
the Case’s were among the pioneers in the founding of Manchester in 1833. They
came from Rush, Monroe Co, New York and possibly other parts of Monroe Co.
From what I can tell is the NY family came from Connecticut. Three
of the
original pioneers were 3 brothers Barnabas Case born 19 Nov 1799, in Rush,
Emanuel Case born about 1796 in Rush and Benjamin Case born 28 Jan 1792 in Rush,
others came after them and there were a lot of descendants.
What I have done is taken entries of birth, marriage and death from our
weekly newspaper, Manchester Enterprise and put them on 6 pages. They are in jpg
format. I also have an alphabetized listing of the names that appear in
these entries. This will be something I will update as I find more entries on
the microfilm. The paper began in 1867, I don't have any entries here yet
that early, but I have more of the film to look through yet.
I also have a listing of deaths that was done by someone in Manchester who
extracted death dates for various sources, cemetery stones, newspaper, general
and personal knowledge. The list begins with some of the first deaths in
1833 and goes through 1928. I have pulled out the Case family entries. There
are no entries for Cases as early as 1833 nor as late as 1928 but a number of
entries in between.
If you are interested in receiving the entries from the newspaper and the
deaths please email me at
_jenterkar(a)aol.com_ (mailto:jenterkar@aol.com) and I would be glad to send
them to you. The newspaper listings is 6 pages of jpg and 2 pages of WORD
documents The death list of Case family is 3 pages of WORD documents. Please
put Case Family info request in your subject line, in your email to me so I
will be able to spot it quickly.
