Hi Everyone.
I have been gone for some time. I was so frustrated with my Case family (ha) that I had
to let them rest for awhile--and now I am back. I have not found much in the past year
but maybe enough that someone might be able to help. Here goes.......
Isaac K. Case, born abt. 1839/1840 in NY. The first time I find Isaac is in 1870 in
Whiteford, Monroe, Michigan. Next I find him in 1880 in Oak Harbor, Ottawa, OH, then in
1900 in Toledo, Ward 5, Lucas, OH. He married Sarah J. (possibly Darn) in October 1860.
Sarah was born abt. 1846/1847 in Canada. They had three children (that I know of). They
are :
William B. Case, born 1861 in NY. He married Mary Dukat in September 1886 in Ottawa
County Ohio.
John W. Case, born 1867 in Michigan, married Bertha Ann Welsch July 1887 in Ottawa County
Ohio.
Mattie J. Case, b. 1863 (my g.g. grandmother) in Michigan. She married George H. McNutt
January 1881 in Ottawa Co, OH.
The next time I find Isaac K. Case is in Toledo, Ward 7, Lucas, OH in 1910, born about
1839 and married to Caroline for 7 years. He has a daughter, Mattie living with him but
the birth year is way off from my Mattie. The 1910 census says Mattie was born in 1885.
I know the census takers have made mistakes before and I am wondering if this is one of
those times. I know that Mattie divorced George McNutt because George remarried in
1896. Maybe 1885 is when Mattie and George divorced. Mattie and Goerge had two children
and the census says Mattie is single and has two children. But, the two children are not
living with her. Maybe they are with George or his family??? I found a posting on
RootsWeb from someone looking for Mattie and she said Mattie married a Babcock.
Mattie's name in the 1910 OH census is "Basore."
But, I am no further trying to find Isaac's parents or Sarah's parents. I found
an Isaac in 1850 and in 1860 in New York with parents William and Catharine Case but have
no way to connect. Isaac has an older brother John and a younger sister Martha. Oddly
enough, Isaac's children are William, Mattie and John.
What are the chances this is a match?????
I hope someone out there recognizes the names and might be able to help.
Thanks,
Therese from Michigan
