Hello Everyone,
For those of you searching for ancestors in Michigan, there is a new web site called,
http://seekingmichigan.org/ where you can obtain death record copies.
To quote the site.....
Million Record March
"Introducing the Michigan Death Records Collection. Welcome to Seeking Michigan! As
a partner in the site, The Library of Michigan is excited to make these Michigan death
certificates for the years 1897 to 1920 freely available online. The years 1915 to 1920
are particularly significant, as a readily available statewide index did not exist
previously." " This Library of Michigan collection of Michigan death
certificates features nearly 1 million records. This statewide collection offers
researchers critical information in tracking Michigan ancestors during this time period.
Information includes the decedent's birth date and place, parent's names and
birthplace, cemetery name and location, and much more."

If you go to the "Look" tab on the site, you can track the number of
records being uploaded. You can see which counties are complete, which ones are in
progress, and which ones have not been uploaded yet. They have uploaded approximately
250,000 records and are uploading death records every day in order to meet their 1,000,000
record goal. The records I have found are of good quality, too.
There are other records there, as well, such as Civil War photographs and manuscripts, WPA
(Works Progress Administration) Property Inventories, and much more. Check it out!!!
I go to the site nearly every two or three days and yesterday I found what I hope to be my
ancestor with his parent's names. I will cover him and her in another email to the
group since I could use some help on this one...
