Cheryl.......to add some more confusion. I don't have a Catherine GALLINGER.
I have Elizabeth m.18 Oct 1792 STOUTENBURG & no date for Patience m.
to DUNHAM. BUT I have these sisters as d/o Nathan 2 CASE b.1739 Mendon,
Worcester,MA d.1796 Dutchess Co.NY & m. Elizabeth MUSSEY he had son
Nathan 3 CASE 1776-1863 Dutchess Co.NY m. Amy HICKS and his son
Nathan 4 1810-1881 Milan, Dutchess Co.NY m. Ann Maria STORY.
There are other children, but just listed the Nathans.
I don't have ch for Nathan 4, but don't see Andrew B. for any of the other
Nathans.

<< Thanks for the help/offers/ideas. At this time we are trying to tie my
Nathan in
with the Elizabeth and Patience Case girls who married Dunhan and
Stoutenburg,
went to Ontario from Dutchess Co., New York . The names of my Nathan's
children
are very similar to this line except for Nathan and Catherine Gallinger's
first
son (at least we think he is the first son) Andrew B. circa 1825. In the
1871
Ontario census Nathan is 84 and lives with his youngest son James (my
Ggrandfather). We know when and where his wife Catherine died but do not know
for
sure about Nathan - between 1871 and 1881 for certain. In this census,
Nathan
claims to be Scots as does one of his sons while the other two sons say they
are
of German extraction! They weren't very helpful. All my great aunts and
uncles
have always speculated on their origins - some saying we were English, some
German and others had no idea. It was not until I started looking at
genealogy a
few years ago that the Scottish idea arose.
We know very little for certain - it seems defininite that he was born in
the
U.S. and we take his birth date of circa 1792 from later census records and
from
The Militia Roll of 1828-29. We have a copy of Catherine's application for a
land
grant as a DUEL in 1830 (31) and since she applied for the grant we have
always
assumed he was not from a UEL family. However, Catherine's family were almost
all
from the Cornwall, Ontario area and the first we know of Nathan, he was in
East
Gwillimbury so... how did they meet? There were Cass/Case in Quebec/Ontario
with
the first UEL but we have found nothing to tie our Nathan into that group.
We have been looking for this man for about 10 years now - off and on-- as
it
becomes very discouraging. We have checked the N/Y. census for 1790 for ideas
but
nothing definitive ever arises. We think it would even be possible that he
was
married before Catherine Gallinger as perhaps that could help in explaining
the
name Andrew. Any ideas/suggestions you have will be much appreciated.
