Hello, Thanks for your reply
Unfortunately, we know very little of Nathan. His Canadian census record says he
was born in the U.S. circa 1792 and he was of Scotch descent in the 1871 census.
But what is confusing is that two of his sons in the 1771 census claim that they
are of German descent. We know that their mother Catherine Gallinger nee Cryderman
was of German descent and her father was born near Johnstown, Fulton, New York.
We have checked out most of the Canadian Case families and so far nothing has
connected so are looking for similar names/dates that might be a clue. Nathan and
Catherine's children were: Andrew, possible John, Patience, Ephraim, Sarah,
Rachel, George, Hiram, and James, my Great-grandfather born in 1842. The first
record we have of Nathan is in the militia rolls of 1828 in East Gwillimbury,
Ontario at age 37. Andrew, whom we think is the eldest son was born circa 1824 so
we assume that Nathan and Catherine were married around 1823-24. The UEL lists
have a definite connection in 1830 as to the marriage of Nathan Case to Catherine
Gallinger, daughter of Michael Gallinger Jr. but no one has any idea about Nathan.
Any clues/info etc. would be greatly appreciated by Nathan's many descendants. I
have looked at hundreds of Case names in the Northern U.S. States but so far
nothing has been definitive enough to point in a logical direction.
