Bob and Edee,
Let me try and explain where I am on the Parents of Jonathan CASE. Last year I
was in Connecticut for a week and had the opportunity to spend some time with
Ruth Duncan ( author of John Case And His Descendants) and Stephen Simon head
of the Simsbury Genealogy Society. The up shot of this was that I could not
find any relationship to the Simsbury CT. Case's and Jonathan Case from New
York.
Over the years there has been 4 proposed theories as to Jonathan's ancestry,
I'm not going to go into them in detail but in brief they are;
1. Jonathan Case was the son of David Case & Sarah Kilburn this was published
by Welling and also maintained by Christina Stevens town of Hoosick Historian.
The records of CT. shows one daughter Sarah born to them in Simsbury 1750/51
and a second daughter Mary born in Litchfield 1752. In David's will dated
March 15,1753 mentiones only his Beloved daughter Sarah, and his estranged
wife.
2. Jonathan was the son of Nathan Case b. abt 1715 in Simsbury & Elizabeth
Moore, as far as I can find there is nothing to support this.
3. Jonathan was the son of Jonathan Case b. Nov.18, 1726 in Lebanon CT. This
was found in the hand written note in Dr. Erastus Case in Jonathan Case of
Hoosick family 34R and referred to family 26P24, again nothing I have found
will support this.
4. In Dr. Erastus Case's typed manuscript he writes Jonathan and Joseph Case
are the sons of Nathan (?) Case. This info was supplied by Jonathan Case's g-
granddaughter and two of his gg- granddaughters in 1903. The family page also
stated that they came from Connecticut (more likely Rhode Island) to Hoosick,
Resselaer Co. New York .
At this time I do not have any idea who Jonathan's parents are so the search
goes on. I hope this helps clear up some of the mystery about Jonathans
ancestry, "I know not!!!!!!"
God Grace and Peace
Tom
