Trish, my Horatio Case was b. in Montgomery co., MD 1791, had
children
1812-1818 in Bracken co., KY, then had children 1824 and 1827 in Ohio, then
had Augustus D. Case in 1833 in Indiana. Looks like he covered a lot of
ground (4 states) MD -> Bracken co., KY -> Ohio -> Indiana. His
grandchildren were all born in Dearborn, Ind. Some ended up in Kansas and
some in Iowa. Wasn't it customary to go to a place where there were
friends or relatives?
Hi Joni,
I think that was part of it, but sometimes it seems like one or the other
person just liked to "move on". Or maybe it's the proverbial "the
grass is
always greener" syndrome! Maybe his moves correspond with the opening up of
new lands.
I'm interested in your Augustus Case. That is not a common name in the Case
family (Am I right, Edee?) and yet it was the name of the NJ-born father of
a large Case clan in Wayne Co, OH. Augustus I (b. 1759 in NJ) had a son
Augustus II (b. 1807 in PA) and a grandson named Augustus III (b.1820 in
OH). By the way, the grandson Augustus was the son of Samuel Youngs Case,
not the son of Augustus II. Does anyone have any ideas on the use of the
name Augustus?
For that matter, my Case family (also of Wayne Co OH) and the above Augustus
Case family, both have sons named Reason/Rezin Bell Case. Does anyone have
a clue to that unusual name?
Thanks, Trish
