Hi Debbie,
Do you know where in Genessee Co.? I know of a Gabriel Case who appears in
the 1825 York, Genessee Co. family census with seven females. Gabriel Case
later bought land in Macomb county MI but never lived there that I can find.
I believe that he is the father of my ancestor Clarissa Case born in ca
1820. She married Benjamin Hocknell ca 1837 and they moved to Macomb
county, MI. I also have found some evidence that Gabriel Case lived at one
time in other counties in NY-but I would have to look at my notes to see
what they were. If my memory serves me right Gabriel Case and a (I believe)
brother Sterling Case are the only Case's that appear in early census for
Genessee (later Livingston) county. The Gabriel Case that appears in the
York census may be your Anna's father. An interesting side note is that
Clarissa named her first born daughter Ann C. Hocknell and last son Gabriel
Case Hocknell. If your Anna is an older sister of Clarissa, Anna may be
named after her mother and Clarissa may have named her first daughter after
her mother and sister.
