Hi, Celia,
Here is an excerpt from the official Case Knife Works website:
"The History of Knifemaking
By looking at the history of W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company, you are
really looking at the history of knifemaking in the United States.
W.R. Case and Sons Cutlery Company's history began in 1889, in the
burgeoning center of the American cutlery industry in upstate New York. "
Since this Knifeworks was not formed until 1889 can you show a direct link
to the Case lineage you have presented, please?
I do not mean this to sound negative; I have questioned this list previously
for any knowledge to help me expand my data-base on the Case surname
and would like to prove or disprove the link suggested to the Case Knife
Works, W.R. and J.R. Case.
Thanks and God Bless! Bob boblin(a)bright.net

Subject: Re: William CASE 1590 Aylesham, England
Here is what information I have, I don't know if it's the
same William
Case
you are seeking or not.
Sir Philip Case-"Knight"
Of Stradsett Hall & Gaywood Hall; Aglesham,England
Inventer of the
CASE KNIFE" well known throughout England and America.
B.1565 Aglesham,England
Married 1595 Lady Mary E. Mahaley of Stobbieside,Scotland
d. England
Children were:
Patrick b. 1596; Thomas b.1598; William b.1599; Henry b.1600; David
b.1602;
Elizabeth b.1603; John b.1604; Anne b.1606; Joseph b.1608; Theophilus
b.1609
and Philip b. 1610.
Initally 3 of his children boarded the ship, "Michael Rorok" in April 1635
bound for America. One of these sons was William, who died in route and was
burried at sea.
(Emigrations & Passenger's list # 7585/1635) The remaining brothers
continued
the journey.
I got this out of a book early in my research and didn't know enough at
the
time to write down the name of the book.
Do you know anything about any Case in indiana ? I'm looking for Clenton
Case
b. 1852. Let me know if this helps you.
