Hi Listers
On reading digest no. 87 It appears that some people are jumping to conclusions without
facts to back them up or quoting sources, is'nt this a dangerous thing to do?
My CASE ancestors were non conformists i.e. not did follow the Church of England. My east
Dorset, England lot in the Poole area of Dorset , by 1800, were Methodists/Wesleyans for
instance.
The three main groups of CASE families around the time of the Doomsday book were, it
seems, from Lancashire, Norfolk and south west England according to recorded infomation in
my local library. Some of thos in Norfolk have been traced back to Lancashire around 1600.
So even in those days people were not always static in the same village/county.
Unfortunately the effects of the two civil wars in England in the 17th century (just after
my ancestor, Abraham CASE, set up the Dorset Button Making cottage industry in 1622) and
later fires burning down buildings mean that the remaining information is somewhat
sketchy. It is often with luck that someone researching family history comes across a
memorial inscription on a gravestone.
I wish I could be of more help, but without dates and places assumptions will be made but
they should be recognised as such and quoted sources given.
