It seems that the Daily Telegraph (Monday) told te world about the big secret re-launch of
the 1901 on-line census, in the next few(??) weeks.
The GRO thought it would work if those inquisitive family history researchers were not
told and could be kept away from using the on-line system. This is like a bus driver
refusing to pick up passengers for fear of arriving late at the terminus or overloading
the bus.
Politically I suppose it would look good if it worked with very few users for the first
few weeks. Then if it crashed they
could say it was due to the 'wrong type of user'.
Warning -
Don't tell me when it becomes active for at least 30 minutes in case I break the
system with my simple search for one family.
