George in the UK asks what the source is that connects immigrant John CASE
(w. Sarah SPENCER) to Aylesham.
Can anyone on The List provide details...?
He writes:
--------------------------------
"Can you tell me what makes you believe that John's birthplace was Aylesham,
Kent not Aylsham, Norfolk where a large number of CASE naames have existed
since pre 1100 AD? Place and peoples names were spelled differently by
different individuals.
the book I once read in my local library, said that thre were three clans of
CASE's around 1100 AD, in Lancashire, Norfolk and the south west (aka the
West Country) around the Cotswolds (Gloucestershire), Dorset, Wiltshire,
Somerset, Cornwall & Devon.
What we need to locate is any parish record of John Case, either in Norfolk
or Kent.
Perhaps a researcher to visit the PRO in Kew, west London, or the Society of
Genealogists would be profitable. I live in the north west of England and am
not in a position to visit these places at present.
It would be great to break through this brick wall and connect to a family in
the UK."
