Dear Listers, and esp. Joe Klaudi:
I hate to burst your bubble, but all I wrote about was passed on to me by my
in-laws. This family is my husband's not mine. I have yet to research it to
prove it. The names and dates came out of a family Bible only. Just proof,
but it's only my husband's family line, no one else's so it seems. You'd
think with all those children there would be one other person pursuing their
roots? His grandmother, who died at the age of 98, was raised by her
grandmother, so we can go back quite a few years with verbal proof.
As for me, I have been researching 9 of my own surnames, and can take my
families back into the 1600s here in America. Needless to say, I have had a
little experience and a whole lot of help from cousins that I have found on
the web. Something I am not finding with the CASE listers. I don't think I
shall be submitting anything more to the list, but will respond to each
person separately, especially if I can be of help to anyone. Isn't that how
it's supposed to go???????

Have you a John W. Case born abt 1796 in your family tree from NY?

I was just recently in Scotland and stopped into a historical library that listed the Royal and Ancient Names of Scotland... Indeed the Case/Casse name was listed there.

I hate to "break your bubble", but the Case family was in the US long

There are many sources for the Case surname, both online and off. I have
a file that is about 1 1/2 inches thick with Case info in it and am willing

I'm related to Jonathan Case who died before 5 Mar 1810, in Hoosick, NY,

Joe,
Do you have any info on Edward Case of Mason County KY, born abt. 1822, married to Sarah (maiden name unknown)? His father may be Shaddrick Case, born abt. 1795, from Bracken County, KY, married in 1815 to Malinda Tucker. I am not sure if Edward is Shaddrick's son. I would appreciate any info you may have on either of them.
Thanks,
Lois Case

Joe - Do you have David L. Case born 1794 either in New York or in
Delaware (I've seen both) in your records? He married Datey/Datie/Doty
Mayo/Mayhew (I've seen all of these spellings) who was born in
Pennsylvania in 1794. The couple probably married in PA. This couple

Dear Joanne...
Do you know what his children's names were...or where he settled? My Case
line lived on Long Island...and it's said that the earliest one came from
England...
Thanks...Kathleen
I too had thought my CASE family was from Germany. I have
traced back to my great great great grandfather, Samuel CASE
who was born either in CT, PA or NJ, depending on which source
you believe. However, the surprising fact to me was that the
CASEs are buried in the AppleCreek OH Presbyterian cemetery
and were members of the Presbyterian church in 1830s and 1840s.
This makes it almost certain that they were Scots-Irish. Has
anyone else found this indication of the northern Irish origination?

Trish

The secret of Happiness is to count your
Blessings, not your Birthdays
My family information was that three brothers came into America from England.
One went west to Detroit and was the progenitor of Case Tractor and farm
machine.
Great-grandfather James Case was a civil engineer and went to Brazil to
help build the first railroad in the Amazon Valley. He later settled in Long
Island, NY, and sired 14 children. No one knows what happened to the third
brother.
My Case's were also seamen, and although my family says they came from
England, they very well could have been Irish.
Joanne Case
I also have stories of ancestors claiming to be from Irish descent who also
settled in Oh. All I can tell it is nothing but stories passed down.Stories
are a place to start, from there you gather facts..paper trail if you

Hello Barbara,
My gr grandmother always told us her grandfather, Cornelius Case and his
brother Peter were Irish, sea going men originally. We know Cornelius was
born in NJ in 1800 and lived most of his life and died in OH,
Preble county. He was married to Prudence Osborn, who was 10 years older
than him. No one has been able to figure out who Cornelius's parents were
for sure. This grandmother said they came from NY, but he
(Cornelius) definitely stated NJ in census records. Most people think the
Cases are german. If you do find
any definitive info, please let me know. I am simply sending this "hearsay"
to bolster the supposition that some of the Cases may have been from Ireland
originally. Sorry I can't prove it. Cecelia Bostwick

I am looking for Leb Case and his son Samuel Case. Samuel married Cora
Burgin. Samuel and Cora's children were Dennis, Pearl, John, and
Augustus. We are not sure what county in Ky. that Leb and Samuel were
from. Some of the family thinks Casey Co., Ky. and some thinks Jefferson
Co., Ky. We do know Dennis was born in Klondike, Ky. and I find a Klondike
in Montgomery Co. Ky. Looking for anything on this family. Could someone
do a lookup for Leb and Samuel in the 1900 and 1910 Montgomery Co.
census. Thank you so much for your help.

Would like to share info with anyone researching Isaac Case, born between 1760-1770 and died after 1830 in Laurens County or Newberry County, South Carolina. Isaac attended Bush River Baptist Church in Newberry, SC. Also interested in any other Cases you are researching in South Carolina.
