I have done almost no looking in military records. Hopefully someone on the
list can give us pointers. Daniel can certainly be amajor between the War of
1812 and the Civil War. There was a peace time army, and state militias, and
wars with indians.

Your Pedigree list is my assumption (there is an Omison or Orrison Case
(sp.?) b 1831 also per 1850 census)
The article came from a Journal (news paper) (JCU) near Hebron Wisconsin 23
May 1890. Jefferson County Union 23 May 1890.
The Date of birth for Laura J. Case 1818-19 (as Daughter of Daniel and Love)
if child of Daniel b. 1793, Daniel would have been abt 25 years old and
parent of Oliver d. 1841 stated on grave, Maj. Daniel and Love Case. (could
he have been a Maj. in peace time?)
I have not contacted land records or probate, are there any addresses or
phone numbers available? Nor have I check NY military records. I Found George
b. 1844 a Corporal in the 40th Infantry Company A of the Wisconsin Volunteers
from May 5th 1864 to Sept. 16 1864 term Exp. and Hiram in the Wisconsin
military records.

Regarding Major Daniel CASE, I'm curious as to when the journal you mention
was written. It makes a difference as to when he would have been in the
military. Someone born in 1793 would be too young to be a major in the War
of 1812, and too old to be in the Civil War.
Also, have you checked Ontario County land records? Probate?
Let's see if I understand what you think MAY be the pedigree:
CASE, Daniel; died Aug 16 1811; ae 44 yrs possible father, uncle, etc. m.
Candice UNKNOWN died Nov 10 1846 ae 72
Major Daniel CASE b. 1793,

childbirth.)
second m Major Daniel CASE: Velina Marsh, b.
George b. 1844
Hiram b. 1846
Good luck,
Robert
I am trying to verify a link to Daniel Case b.1793.
I found him in Hebron, Wisconsin living next door to a William R. Case b. 19
DEC 1823. In an 1850 Census there is a Daniel W. Case b. abt. 1829 living
with Daniel Case b. 1793. I also found a journal from Wisconsin that was an
Obit for Velina Marsh that stated she married Daniel Case b. 1793 in 1841
then had George Case b. 1844 and Hiram 1846. In the journal it referred to
Daniel Case b 1793 as Major Daniel Case. (William R. Case had a part in
naming the town of Hebron, WI.)
With the lead on cemeteries in Canandaigua, NY (thanks loritd@comcast) I
found a "Major Daniel Case" listed as father and "Love" as mother of Oliver
Case d. 1-20-1841 adopted by Rev. E.A. Platt. (Woolhouse/Hunn Cem.)
What I am wanting to prove by either birth records or church records, if
Major Daniel Case and Love had a son named William R. Case b. 19 DEC 1823 and
a son Daniel W. Case b. about 1829? What church Rev. E.A. Platt may have
pastured (i.e church records)?
Also in the Woolhouse/Hunn Cemetery there is a Candace, wife of Daniel died
Nov 10 1846 ae 72 that may be the mother of Daniel b. 1793. Also there is a
Daniel died Aug 16 1811 ae 44 could this be the father of Daniel b. 1793.
Is there any one who could help me verify these relations or refer me to an
organization in the Canandaigua, NY area that may be able to help?
Thanks!

When I initially started searching my Case Family in Wisconsin I was told
from a historian in Wisconsin that many immigrants from Germany and Holland
had the last name "Kase" or "Kaze" (Cheese) and Americanized to "Case" in
Wisconsin. Maybe someone on the net can verify that theory.

Can anyone help me on this?

Thanks Joe. Someone, sometime surely will run across Jeremiah as being some of their line.

Yes. indeed, I know of these Cases, as do a few others on this list. Thanks
very much for the listing.
Following are notes and corrections.
Chauncey Comodore Case was the son of Jonathan Wood Case (b. 21 Aug 1797, d.
19 Jul 1852). (Daniel3, Daniel2, Daniel1, (Henry3?), Henry2, Henry & Martha
Corwin).
Chauncey's wife was Nancy Margaret Shoulders Case, listed as "m." for parent
of children Ely and Mary, so must have been known as Margaret. (Chauncy and
Margaret had ten children.)
J. W. was a twin to my gggrandfather, Coe Wisner(Weasner?) Case.
Teressa Jane McDowell Case was first the husband of John Case, and after his
death, married J. .W. Case
I believe Julia must have been the daughter of Charles Henry Case, another
son of J. W. Case. I do not have his marriage.
Philinea was the daughter of J. W. and his first wife, Sally Knapp.
One of Chauncey's sons was named Coe Weasner Case, which seems to support the
spelling of the name of his uncle.
Coe William (Bill) CASE, who married the WRIGHT girl.

Robert,
Well thanks for clearing up the "Retsof"! Wonder why it would be listed as
that in a record? Now you have my attention on the Michigan Case's. Do you
know what county? Many Case's bought land in Macomb county and I have (or
had-can't find them at this minute!) most of those purchases mapped out on a
plat map and they all settled very close to each other. I am also one of
the unlucky "Case" researchers who happens to have ANOTHER Case in another
family line who I can't find any thing on. She is Margaret Case b. ca 1830
in NY. Parents unknown, but she married Orel C. Warriner ca 1851 in
Hillsdale county, MI(? no record found yet). There first child was born in
1852 in Jackson county-where it seems Margaret was from. I only say they
were married ca 1851 because of the year of birth of the first child-but I
have my suspicions that they were not married until after that birth. There
is a Margaret Case that appears as a domestic in the 1850 Jackson county
census who meets all of the criteria of my Margaret. She then appears in
1854 in either a city or county census (this is from a web site) with one
more person- who could be the baby born in 1851, who is my gr gr
grandmother. The next child born in the marriage of Margaret and Orel was
not born until 1855 and Margaret appears in Hillsdale county by 1860. Orel
Warriner lived exclusively in Hillsdale co. after he settled in MI ( and was
married five times, Margaret being his third wife) and there would be no
reason for the first child to be born in Sandstone, Jackson county-unless
out of wedlock perhaps. Margaret died from childbirth 11 Jan 1871, after
giving Orel five children (the infant b. 03 Jan 1871 survived), and Orel
remarried and buried another wife by August of the same year.
To make it even more confusing-The son of Benjamin and Clarissa (Case)
Hocknell grew up and married the daughter of Orel Warriner and Margaret Case
and are my gr gr grandparents. Their names are Gabriel Case Hocknell and
Theresa M. Warriner. I believe the Gabriel Case I seek is the father of
Clarissa Case. Gabriel and Theresa (Warriner) Hocknell both had mothers
with the last name Case.
I know this is long for the list-and may be redundant to some-but this is
such an active list and one I feel has many new members everyday. I just
keep posting this info in hopes it will click with someone. Does it make
any connections with your Michigan Case's Robert?
Sheryle
Betty,
Lyons was in Ontario County until 1823. It is now the county seat of Wayne
county.
It is my impression that they were pretty strict about needing to be 21 to
own property, so check your dates.
Do you know if they owned land in Phelps? Lots of Cases there in that time
period. What other information do you have on Jeremiah and Sally?
Where did they move to in Michigan? Do you have the Land Patent Records?
One used to be able to look them up on the internet, but the indian lawsuit
shut down their web site. Hopefully they'll be back up before too long.
Robert
Sheryle,
Since all the CASEs supposedly decended from John Case, I'd have to say his
offspring were very prolific.
I hadn't known of any in York or Geneseo. I haven't previously run into a
Gabriel or Starling. My ancestors moved on from New York to Michigan, and we
didn't learn of our New York connections until we moved out here.
Robert
Betty,
According to the NYGenWeb site, Wayne County was formed in 1823 from
Ontario and Seneca Counties with Lyons as it's county seat. According to
their 'town finder', Phelps, NY is in Ontario County and of course Lyons is
in Wayne County.
I am also a Case descendant but I haven't come across any Case's in that
part of New York, yet. I have also collected a lot of info on the Case
surname, but haven't been able to sort it all out yet.
Hope this helps,
Joe
Please, if anyone comes across a Jeremiah Case born abt. 1793 in N.Y., please let me know. I know that he bought land in Lyons, Ontario Co., N.Y. in 1813. When he and his wife Sarah "Sally" sold it in 1815, they were living in the town of Phelps. In 1837 when they patented land in Michigan, they were living in Wayne Co., NY. Whether they had moved or whether that part of Ontario Co. was taken for Wayne Co., I don't know.
Thanks.
Betty

Hi List,
I was going through some notes and found the results of a look-up done by a
kind lady named Dorothy. The book was "The History of York" (in Genesee
county and later in Livingston county). There was not much info but perhaps
it can help someone here.
Family census of 1825-Gabriel Case, 3 males, 7 females
Assessment Roll of 1824-Gabriel Casey, Lot 26, Tuscarora Tract, 25 acres
a Lyman Casey appears in the Family Census of 1825
Barmen Case was voted for "pathmaster" ( probably todays road commissioner!)
at the first town meeting in 1819
Albert Case of Retsof (?) married Cora Vallance 25 Dec 1894
