Is there anyone with access to birth records for Ontario Co. NY 1830s? I am
working on my Case's that moved from Ontario County, NY. To Hebron, WI. I
have found in a 1850 Census of Jefferson County, WI. a Daniel Case 57 and
Velina 44 (which I know she is from Phelps, Ontario Co, NY. I also found a
Daniel W. Case 21. b. NY. there is another (son?) ???ison A. Case 19 b NY.
Could any one help me find out if these are by birth records sons of a Daniel
Willcockson Case in Ontario Co. NY (and correct spelling). There is a
William R. Case age 27 living next door to Daniel Case 57also that may be
his son. Thanks!
Dennis Case

The Case family have lived in the Bristol, UK area for over 400 years. I
wondered if any connection with Bristol, NY Case family? Maybe just a
co-incidence.
Looking for any Case emigrants to the New World from the UK.
My Case family came fom the Cotsworlds area of the UK (near Bristol) and some
progressed into Wiltshire/Dorset (1620's) and Essex (1800's), UK..
Have collected about 7000 Case names in my database.
The following's taken from "The History of Manfield Lodge No 35 F.& A.M.
1814-1951 (available at the Ohio Historical Society --- PA Box 537
folder 24)
Name, date joined Lodge 35
Elijah O. Case, 1860
Edward R. Case, 1919
G.W.M. Case, 1877
Hugh H. Case, 1869
John N. Case, 1889
Leland Case, 1945
Albert S. Stoodt, 1910 (married a Case descendant)
Elijah Opdycke Case was my ggg gf and George Washington Moon Case was my
gg gf. Dr. Stoodt was married to Elijah's brother Samuel's
granddaughter. Can anyone identify any of the other Cases listed?
Thanks,
Laurie
I came across a diary in the Ohio Historical Society's manuscript
collection today that may interest those with NE Ohio Case connections.
It is "Vol 400" in the manuscript collection and is listed as the Diary
of Zophar Case. The diary is a small triple fold (leather?), about 4 by
6 inches. It appears to have been written about 1829. I had only limited
time and the book cannot be xeroxed but the frontpiece says,
"Genealogical memorial of the ancestors and descendent of Meshach Case",
followed by a few journal entries of his trip west. The best part of it
though is the last 6 or 8 pages where he details the family genealogy. I
did not have time to copy out very much but here is the bit on the
oldest generations (punctuation and spelling are as written, the pages
are torn in a couple spots and in others stuck together so if I couldn't
read it I have question marks). Although I didn't have time to write it
all out (and will not be back to OHS anytime soon) I did read over the
genealogy and Zophar was brother to Leonard Case of Case Western
University fame. And unfortunately that means the diary has no
connection to "my" Case family -- maybe some of you will have better
luck.
"Paternal Line Holland
