Thanks for your reply. I have limited info on Chester. His birth was approx
1817, born in New York State, married twice- Martha (unknown) and Anna Jane

area (Ripley County). Chester H. was a Doctor in that area.
Unexplainably (at least to me) he has a son listed as Harry Jr. in a census

Any help or suggestions?

I would like anything that might help me. Could Leon be short for something
else? I never though so since my grandma was named Inez Leone Case. She has
passed away and I cant ask her.

England. One of his son's, John was born about 1616 and came America in

From John Case on, the line looks like this:
John Case Sr.
Joseph Case

On John Case's wife side (Sarah Spencer) someone has traced her lineage back

Hi...this is going to be a long shot but here goes. My greatgrandfather was
Leon (G or J) Case. I have no birthdates or where he was born. They were
living in S. Dakota when my grandmother was born (1907). He was a mechanic
and moved to Washington State after he divorced from his wife Milla (Young).
He died early. (cant get a date) Dad thinks its was in the 1920's or 1930's
from carbon monoxide poisoning. Could be earlier. Have you seen anything on
him? Dont know if he remarried. I do know that he had custody of the
children (Inez and Kelly) until Milla kiddnapped them back. Pam --

My last known Case ancestors are Peter Case and his wife Lucretia Burr.
They were living in Hampshire county Virginia (Now West Virginina) in
the
early 1800's. Land records show other Case names which may or may not
be
his sons. Othaniel, Jacob, William and Leonard. It is conjectured
that
Will is a brother. Othaniel is definetly a son and married Mary Ann
Starns(Stearns) A Jacob Case living in Portage County Ohio is believed
to
have been Peter's son but I have found no proof of this. Jacob was
born in
Hunterdon county New Jersey. Records there show a Peter Case and wife
Anna
haveing children one of whom is Peter born 1766 about the time my Peter
would have been born. One clue I have recently found is in a census
record
Othaniel's daughter Eliza states her father was born in Nova Scotia.
Question: could Othaniel's father Peter have belonged to a family of
Torys
that went to Nova Scotia for the duration of the war?
Anyone have any clues. Thanks Joyce
Oh my goodness!! Please forgive me for this OT folks, but do you have any
idea what a rush it was to see this post come in with MY name on it? And
from WA state to boot? My maiden name is CASE, given name Janice Lynne.

Janice,
Have you tried getting a death certificate from Arkansas? It is quite likely
that his parents' names would be on there. It would depend on whether the
person giving the info. for the death knew the answer to the question. There
are far too many CASEs living in PA during the years you requested to look
them all up, or even just those of the names you mentioned in your e-mail, to
try see which ones had a son John A. the right age. We have PA Census indices
for 1850 & 1860 at our local library. If you would like copies of the pages
showing the CASE name let me know. They charge $.15 per page. I would need
your snail-mail address.

Hi Joyce, I think we may be interested in the same lines. Peter Case,s/o
Tunis. of Hunterdon Co. Peter's will proved 1789. He had a son Jacob and a
John who I think is my husbands ancestor but I cannot prove it. He was born on
18 Nov 1778 and his father was said to be Peter. This is the only Peter I
could identify who could have been his father (and there were a lot of them)
It seems most of the children went away form Hunterdon Co. Our John married
Catherine van Doren and moved to upstate NY and then to Licking Co. OH. but I
don't know of any going to Nova Scotia, but that doesn't mean anything!
How did you find your Jacob was born in 1766 ? Did you find any baptismal
record and if so where. That's what I need to prove who our John's father was.
Our John's birthdate was given in an old family record along with the
birthdates of his wife and their 14 children. the only problem was, I had to
figure out where they came from. This Case family is described in Hank Jones
great book, "More Palatine Families"
Does this help you any?

I don't know. I would be inclined to think it was about 50-50.....
I lived in New York, and worked in Little Falls at a factory with a lady
named Bertha CASE.

This is somewhat off the current subject, but while interviewing
prospective nursing home roommates for my mother (she has already had two
fruitcakes, one who socked her & caused a cut which need 4 stitches), I met
an old lady from NY who let me know within 30 secs that she was from one of
the first families in America. So I had to throw our John Case back at
her!! She says the the Cass spelling is more prevelant in that part of the
country. Is that true ?
