After looking at some of the names that Edee sent, the dates are right on
the mark to what little information I do have about Daniel/Catherine Case.
Ann's middle initial in my Case family is "L". Maybe we have two different
families?
I'll be searching through the films at the FHC in a couple of weeks. Are your
names from family records?
Peggy
Looks like some good information on Daniel /Catherine Case. I'm all excited
now. After a brick wall for so long. Now maybe I can move forward (or
backward as the Case goes) with this line.
I definitely would like to know more. Thank you,
I've been reading Case e-mails for months hoping to make a connection, and it
finally happened.
Thanks again,
Peggy
Thank you so much, Edee, for the info on Daniel and Catherine Case. Maybe
now I can find some more information. My GGGrandmother is Ann Case.
Didn't even know they had two other children.
Thanks again.
Peggy

RPRyan(a)aol.com message of 6-17-98. One more note, our family lore says
that Daniel was adopted, and we have hit a dead end because of the
sealing of adoption records. (maybe it isn't so and someday we will find
his parents etc.)

In pursuit of trying to find the parents of my Jeremiah Case b. NY
abt 1793 I have collected on some Cases that I had hoped would tie in
with mine.
>From "Portrait and Biographical Album" of Branch Co., Mi. published
in 1888 is an article on James H. Case, son of Norman, son of Josiah.
James H. Case. Among the solid and substantial farmers of Branch Co.,
the subject of this sketch bears a worthy part in sustaining the
agricultural interests of this section of Michigan. He has been a
resident of Ovid Twp. since 1870, and the farm that he then purchased,
beautifully located on section 9, has greatly increased in value
under his wise ahd jusicious management. Mr. Case was born in Phelps,
Ontario Co., N.Y. March 7, 1821. His father, Norman Case, was born
in Conn. in 1789, and his father, Josiah Case, a farmer, was likewise
born in that State. He removed from there, however, with his wife
and children in 1800, and became a pioneer of Ontario Co. He bought
a large tract of land, included in the Phelps and Gorham tract, and
improved a fine farm, making his home there until death.
Norman Case was but a boy when his parents went to Ontario Co., where
he grew to manhood. He was quite a young man when the War of 1812
broke out, and he went into the army and served a while as a soldier.
He was married, Nov. 16, 1817, to Miss Anna Patton, who was born in
Pittsburg, Pa., July 28, 1796. At the time of his marriage his
father gae him a part of the old homestead, and there he and his wife
spent their entire married life.
It goes on with James who married Miss Hannah Rooks Feb.7, 1861. She
was born in Herkimer Co., N.Y. July 1, 1835, the dtr. of George and
Mary J. (David) Rooks natives of London, Engleand. George Rooks was
the son of George and Sarah Rooks, and he was the only member of his
family who ever came to this country. (There is more on the Rooks).
James H. Case and wife, Hannah Rooks, had four children - Frank,
Minnie, Rosa and Rooks.
Hope that this might help someone.
Haven't had much luck with my Case line either, Betty.

I can't help you on this but the death of Fidelia Case being possibly
in DeKalb Co., In. caught my eye. One of my grandfather's sisters,
Harriett Case who married Michael Casey, went to that county - lived
and died there. Probably went there abt 1870 and have wondered what
took them there as they were married in Michigan - maybe other Case
relation already there?
Good luck. I haven't had much of it with my Case line.

Yes, I've studied the Dorset passenger list. There is also a John Casson age
18. If you look at "Surnames of the United Kingdom" by Henry Harrison, and
"A Dictionary of English and Welsh Surnames" by Charles Bardsley, they
describe the name Casson as Cass's son. They link Cass, Casson,Cash,Case all
the same. I realize that several books follow this same theory, while others
do not. There is no proof, but we all keep searching for something more
definitive.
Don Landers
<< Like most Case descendants, our link is through
John Case of Simsbury, CT. who is supposed to have come from Aylesham,
Norfolk, England on the ship Dorset in 1635. >>
<Have you actually reads the list of passengers on the Dorset? Doesn't it
show
"William" Case ae 19, as the only Case passenger? I've studied the
Passengers
& Immigration book and William is the only Case I come up with on the
Dorset.

Am new to this list and seeking b, d & parents of Fidelia Case. She was m: 16
July 1823, Stockton, Chautauqua Co, NY to Charles Crain. Died possibly in
DeKalb Co, IN.
Hello,
I have just recently joined this list. I would like very much to
correspond with any one who is researching the CASE families
in SW Mississippi.
