Looking for ANY CASE families that lived in Depauville/Watertown New York
area. I am especially interested in finding a Phil Case born about 1820. His
daughter Janette was born June 28 1846 in Depauville/Watertown, Jefferson
county, New York. I do not know the name of Philemon's wife or other
children. Janette was married August 1865 in Williams Center, Williams
county, Ohio to Henry Augustus Ensign. If any of this sounds familiar please
e-mail me at Zoetic467(a)aol.com. Thank you!
Am researching the family of John Case, born July 1812 (birthplace unknown),
married Susan Margaret Estep (born in Maryland), December 6, 1832. John
passed on August 4, 1885 in Bracken County, Kentucky. Their children: James
Benjamin, 1833-1902; Angeline, 1835- ; Sarah E. 1837-1856; William 1842-;
Charles G. 1844;
Vincent 1847-1927; and Sylvester 1849-1914. Any information will be greatly
appreciated and happy to share what info I have.
Thanks very much,

Hi: I am also researching the "Cases" of Upper New York State and I have had
very little luck. I stop with Henry back in the late 1700's. I can not find
a connection with him to any parents. I can't believe there are so many
different lines on the "Cases" and I have had no luck at all in making a
connection with mine. My line goes Henry-Henry-Jabez-Helen. All are from New
York State, the Fishkill, N.Y. area. I sympathize with you wholeheartedly.
Let's hope we both come up with something soon. Happy Hunting "Joanie"

Greetings: In reply to DMDonovan, I too have a Case family in upstate NY, but
I don't think it connects with that one--However:
My great grandmother was Martha CASE, born 1836 in NY--probably Cattaraugus
Cty. Her parents were William CASE born in1793/95 and in various states
depending on the source--one in Mass. and one in Rhode Island. His wife was
Sofia ARNOLD. Family legend has it that they moved to Wisconsin for a while
and then came back to Cattaraugus Cty. They also had about 10 children but I
see no Harvey in the 1850 census--However could have moved out by then if he
were born in 1830.
I have the same feeling that since there were so many children, someone else
must be looking for William--I need to know his parents--also Sofia's--but
that another story.
I can send anyone interested, the children and some of their descendants--let
me know.
Sandy
I have had a lot of trouble tracking down my Case roots....Harvey Case was
born in 1830 in Northfield, Vt son of William (my problem) who was born abt.
1800 in VT, or even NY. So far no one has been able to help me. Harvey moved
to Claremont, NH where he is buried and I have the rest of my ancestors, down
from him. It is finding William that is hard. In the 1830 Census, he is
married and has a daughter and son listed, but I have yet to find any info
(names?) on them. I have been following everyone's Case research and see many
connections with their research...but not mine......I was born a Case.....why
is it so difficult to find info, on mine...my grandparents had 10
children...the Case is large. Maybe you connect somewhere?
If only...........Debby

Hi:
I'm posting this to several email groups at once because it involves
Case, Johnson, and Lorian County, Ohio.
I've been tracing my family. Below is a copy of my family tree. Nick
Melhinch (Lorian Email Group) was kind enough to send me a copy of the
page from the 1850 census showing Thomas, Nancy, Luke, and Lemke in
Avon, Lorian County, Ohio. What had been bothering me was how did my
GGG grandfather, Luke S. Johnson meet and marry Clarissa A. Case from
Racine, Wisconsin at a time when most people only traveled 25 miles in a
life time. Even his service in the Ohio 43, Company H during the Civil
War doesn't explain it.
However, after looking at the marriage index on the case web page
(http://www.rootsweb.com/~inripley/case) a missing piece may have come
together. In the Ohio marriages listing it shows a Seymore Case and a
Clarrissa R. Moon being married in Lorian County on Feb 28, 1844. Since
I don't have the names of Clarissa A. Case's parents in writing yet.
So, maybe the name that was passed on to me is incorrect or the middle
initial is Roxanna.
Any help in tracing this down is greatly appreciated.

I see on my map both places where close so I wonder if they were married in
Bloomfield if Simsbury was the closest place to register the marriage.
My knowledge of how this worked then and in this area is pretty much nil.
Could someone enlighten me?
Thanks much!

Larry, I think it is one big conspiracy, on the part of our ancestors, just
to bug people like us who are trying to make sense out out their lives a
few hundred years later.

Like most CASE researchers, I find an ancestor in a place where
he should not be. In my case (pun intended), locale is Parishville in St.
Lawrence County, NY.
That's not far from the Canadian border and halfway to the Arctic Circle,
for crying out loud.
Even for someone accustomed to the frigid climes of northern New
England, that seems a bit far afield for anyone to venture in late
January 1828 for a couple who would eventually settle down near
Springfield, VT, to get married. The bride and groom were both a mature
28 years of age, so a hasty elopement seems out of the question.
Anyone got CASES in Parishville or any hint as to what might propel a
proper Vermont couple there? (Family was big on lumbering, so perhaps
trees might have had something to do with it.)

According to Simsbury, CT records, Violet Burr of Farmington married
Samuel Case, Jr. of Simsbury on 7 April 1757. Being in the Simsbury
records, I would assume they were married there. There is no note
saying otherwise. Other Burr names are listed. Are they connected to
Violet? Adonijah Burr, Jr. and wife Phebe have 3 children - Phebe 1777,

I have a file from CT Probate Records CD that states this differently.
John Case (1)& Sarah Spencer
Samuel Case (2) b Jun 1 1667 m. Mary Westover
Samuel Case (3) b. Jan 24 1696 m. Eunice Burr
Samuel Case (4) b. Aug 11, 1736 m. Violet Burr
But I think, after looking at this awhile, that the pages talking about
the children didn't print fully, because the next page is numbered
correctly, but starts with a strange lineage, and doesn;t show the
children of Samuel and Violet.
I will try to get this CD back, or ask the owner to resend all this
information I have that isn't included....
