Hello Alethea,
I believe we have corresponded before, but your Thomas Kascadden/Karscadden
does not appear to be connected (or at least not closely) to the brothers
William H. and Alexander Cascadden.
Your Thomas was born in Ireland 1813-1823 (age 38 in the 1861 census, but
age 68 when he died). He was married to Ann Cole on 2 January 1855 in Elgin
County and died 12 April 1881 in Ingersoll, Oxford County, from cirrhosis of
the liver. I have two of their children: Caroline, b. 1860, married John
Holman, and Thomas, b. ca. 1866.
William H. and Alexander Cascadden also came from Ireland, but they were in
the United States by 1790 and then moved to Canada around 1807. Their
descendants are quite well documented, and your Thomas does not fit into
their descendants.
The children of William included: Alexander (1801), James (1802), Mary
(1804-twin), Susannah (1804-twin), David (1806), William Henry (1810),
Elizabeth (1812), Thomas Talbot (1814), Eleanor (1817), John (1819), Jemima
(1821) and Allen Robmet (1823). The Thomas Talbot Cascadden listed above, is
around the age of your Thomas, but Thomas Talbot was married three times,
had ten children, died 26 Nov 1876 and is buried in the Firby Cemetery in
Elgin County. His three wives were Sarah Wood, who he married 8 Jul 1840;
Mary Graham married 3 Nov 1858 and (3) Malory(--??--)McKenzie, widow of
Daniel McKenzie, m. 29 Aug 1872.
The children of Alexander Cascadden included: Mary (1806), William B (1810),
Nancy (1811), Elizabeth (1813), Eleanor (1817), Hugh (1821), Margaret
(c1823), Robert (1824), Lydia (1825), Mariah (c1832) and Sarah Jane (c1832).
The names of his children are proven by his probate records, and there was
no son named Thomas.
If there is any connection between the two families, it is a number of
generations back in Ireland.
Best of luck in your research,
Marjean Workman

My question: Is the Thomas who married Ann Cole a descendant of the two
brothers, William H. and Alexander Cascadden, whom were
born in Ireland and came to Pennsylvania about 1790. They moved to Lincoln
County, Upper Canada about 1806-7, before coming to Elgin County?
