Hi,
Johnston Carscadden, homsteaded land--Part NE, Section 26, Township 53,
Range 22, Meridian W4. Reference: Liber: 116, Follio: 376, File reel
number: C-6026.
This land is in Saskatchewan, Manitoba area. (1870-1930) Johnston is listed
for another piece of land also. Thomas Carscadden, Thomas A. and a Thomas J.
are also listed.
Robert Howard Carscadden, Born 1846, Russell, Russell, Ontario. Parents;
Andrew Carscdden, Eliza Loney.
Check 1871 census for Ontario, the names above can be found there with a lot
of others.
Hope this is of help to you. As you can see I've traced quite a few lines
trying to make connection. I'm now in Vancouver, B.C. as I found William's
mother buried there. William Carscadden (grandfather) also is listed with
yours on Land Grant so they could be related. There are very few here in U.S.
, the Carscadden's seem to have stayed mostly in Canada. The name is from
Scotland but some histories believe that 3 brother's went to Ireland
(different parts) and so 3 variants in spelling came about: Corscadden,
Corscaden, Cuscaden. But the name was really Garscadden. Chief Herald of
Ireland say's there is no reference to the name before 19th century.
Let me know how your search goes, Paula
