Continued--Newspaper articles: Thomas Albert Carscadden was born in Russell,
Ont. and married Margaret Helen Mcdonald April 26 1899. They had five sons
and one daughter. Tom came to Macklin in 1912 and the family followed in
1915. Tom had filed on a homestead south of Macklin, but the family lived in
town next to the Anglican Church and took part in all church affairs. Tom was
the undertaker and worked part time in the Macklin Trading Store. In 1929,
Tom, Nellie and Elizabeth moved to Regina where he was the manager of Govt.
Liquor store. They moved to Plenty in 1936.
Guy married Una Frizzell, they had one son Guy Jr. who lives in Richmond, B.C.
Stirling married Verle McNally , they had two sons. Garth lives in Calgary
and Keith in Red Deer, AB.
Stuart married Huldah Madill. They had two sons: Raymond lives in Sault Ste.
Marie, Ont. and Harold is in Aylmer, PQ
Norman served in WW2 and when he returned he did the farming in Plenty and
started a museum.
Fraser married Willa Gordon, they had one daughter: Laureen who lives in
Waterloo, ON.
Elizabeth married David Mathison, they adopted two children. Albert lives in
Edmonton. Donna lives in Calgary. Elizabeth lives in Edmonton.
Steph there are no dates on these newspapers so you will have to guess the
time frame.
T.D. Carscadden History: T.D. Carscadden came West in the fall of 1897 on a
harvest excursion train and worked at Moosomin. He returned East, but first
he made arrangements for two homesteads in the Riga district, one for himself
and one for his son James. In the spring of 1898 T.D. Carscadden, his wife
and daughters, Martha and Lilla and his son James and his wife and two
children, Percy and Esther, loaded up there belongings and were delayed in
Moosomin. Finally they moved to there homesteads. T.D. Carscadden farmed on
his homestead untill 1906 then moved to the farm in Wapella owned by the
Carscadden Bros. In 1910 he moved into town.
His daughter Martha married three times; Jack Nixon, Conrad Schmidt, and Wm.
Paisley. Lilla was married twice: Robert Blyth, George Wheeler.
James farmed in Riga untill 1910, then moved to the family farm in Wapella.
At Riga he also managed the rural Post office-the mail was delivered from
Moosomin to different districts as far away as Cannington Manor. James farmed
for a number of years and he and wfe retired. Both passed away serveral years
ago.
Their family consisted of: Percy, Esther (Mrs. Nelles) Leonard, Wilbert,
Lena, (Mrs. Birkenshaw) Anson, Carrie (Mrs. E. Holloway), Ernest and Edward.

The William Corscadden Family: William Corscadden was born in Lindsay, Ont.
of Scottish parentae on July 20, 1871. He was the eldest of a family of
ten-seven boys,and 3 girls. He worked hard all his life. He taught himself to
play the organ and accordian. He sang many beautiful hymms. He worked in
Ontario and Manitoba before going to Whitewood, Sask. In 1893 he went to his
Uncle George Cross's farm in the Lansdowne District about 15 miles southwest
of Whitewood. He took up a homestead in 1902 and married Winnifred Gibbs on
26 Feb. 1908 in a double wedding with Winnifreds sister Eleanor (who married
Charles Grylls) at Ceylin Anglican Church ,17 miles north of Windthorst.
Three children were born while they were on the homestead: Nellie, Winnifred.
and Clifford. In 1912 they decided to move to Sask. area and took up farming
in Clarks Crossing near his brother Richard. Two more children were born
there- Victor and LLoyd. Clifford died there at the age of three. In April
1919 the family made a final move back to Windthorst district and established
a farm home. Five more children were born: George (who died at birth)
Marguerite, Hugh, Albert and Ross.
Nellie was married in 1933 to Joe Schoreder, they had a daughter Lois. In
1940 Nellie and family moved to Lebret, Sask. Lois married Jim Aisbett and
they moved to Vancouver and they had three children. Winnie married Bert
Stone of Davidson and moved to Wapella. They have one daughter, Myra married
to Michael Royal of Vancouver. Victor married Burnetta McGreachin in 1941.
They had five children: Bonnie who married Bill MacFarlane, they live in
Powell River and have 3 children. John married Heather Coghian, they live in
Vancouver and h ave two girls. Margaret Ann is at home. Dianna married Fred
Cudlipp, lives in Vancouver and had 2 children. George married Debbie Worsnop
, they have 2 children and also live in Vancouver.
Lloyd married Ida Bachert. They live on a farm near Dalzell, Sask. They have
six children: Annabelle, Darlene, Linda, Brian, Correen, Brenda. Burnetta
married Arthur Lewis and have six children: Sharron, Carol, Wayne, Debbie,
Laurie, Larry.
Albert married Cora Weir, lives in Vancouver and has one son, Lynn.
Hugh married Jeannie Ferguson and has four children.
Ross married Irene Gracewood, live in Vancouver and have a son, Steve.
