Hello,
The Nathaniel Robert Cascadden, who is often mistakenly listed as a son
of Alexander Cascadden, and grandson of William Henry Cascadden, was
born 16 May 1854 in Malahide Township, Elgin County, Canada West (now
Ontario). He was the son of Lydia Cascadden (not her husband), who was
the daughter of Alexander and Nancy (Bale/Bayles) Cascadden. Lydia was
born 3 Nov 1825 in Middlesex (now Elgin) County and died 2 Dec 1888 in
Enniskillen Township, Lambton County, Ontario, with Nathaniel being the
informant for her death certificate.
Nathaniel R. Cascadden was married to Ida Emeline Thompson on 24 Dec
1878 at Aylmer, Elgin County. His parents were named as Lydia and
Adolphus. Since there was no Adolphus Cascadden, and since Lydia was
never shown as married, it appears that Nathaniel was illegitimate. I
have some idea who Nathaniel's father, Adolphus, may be, but no proof.
Lydia Cascadden, mother of Nathaniel, was a first cousin to Alexander,
son of William Henry Cascadden, but they were never married. Alexander
had only two wives, the first Miss Augustine and the second, Mary
Bruner. His youngest proven child, Elizabeth, was born in 1839.
Alexander was born 16 Jun 1801 in Pennsylvania and died 2 Jun 1873 in
Gosfield Township, Essex County, Ontario.
Sorry this doesn't help the original question about Lydia Cascadden,
daughter of James and Rachel.
Regards,
Marjean

Mary, The only thing I have is a Lydia (no last name) married Nathaniel
Cascadden but I don't have any date. He was the son of Alexander
Cascadden son of William Henry Cascadden. I am sorry that I don't have
any mare than that information. Mariedith Cascaddan
