Mickey, I was looking through my files and came across a posting that I'd
pull off of the net earlier this year. I don't know if it is of any use to
you but I figured it could hurt. I found it at :

Carskaddon; Watson, Swadley, Baucom
Seeking Information regarding Dr.Robert Carskaddon, and his brother Lawrence
Carskaddon, who lived in the Springfield area in the 1860-1890's. Both were
born in Lock Haven, Clinton Co., Penn. to Charles & Christiana Carskaddon.
Lawrence enlisted Aug. 22, 1862, Co. L, 1st. Missouri L.A., and was
discharged May 3, 1865, at the General Hospital, Springfield, Ill. Shown in
Census 0f 1870 in Greene Co., Robberson Township as single, age 28, 1880
Census shown as married, age 39, Farmer, to Lizzie, 33, b. MO. She is
believed to be Louisa Baucom who married him in 187? Had children:
Christine, Charles E., James T., John, & Mary E., between 1874 & 1888.
Lawrence died May 28, 1887, and is buried in wade Chapel Cem., under
initials G.L. Carskaddon, wife not buried there, only one son, Lon (? could
be John). Widow remarried James Watson, Nov. 5, 1893. Dr. Bob Carskaddon,
married Nancy Swadley, daughter of Henry & Mary Swadley, who had a farm near
Lawrence in 1870 Census. Robert & Nancy had children: Minnie, James Henry,
Synthia & Jackie (twins), Jess, Birtha & George--all born in MO 1874-1889.
Son, Franklin David, b. 1880 in Philadelphia, and daughter, Edna, born in
Arkansas in 1893. Dr. Bob died in Stroud, Oklahoma Territory, where he was
the "government physician", Jan 10, 1901. Census of 1900 has him married to
wife, Lydia, b. Kansas, for 10 years. Any information on these families,
particularly that of Dr. Bob & Nancy would be most appreciated. How did a
"farmer" become a "physician" in 1880 anyway??? Are there any
Carskaddon
families remaining in your area?

Subject: [CASCADDEN-L] Southern CA(R)SCADDEN
Am I the only person in the world who is researching Southern
Cascaddens?
My Robert died in York County, South Carolina in 1799. He was likely a
very
young man for he left a young widow and two near-infant daughthers.
He was
almost certainly the son of the Robert Ca(r)scadden who was in Augusta
County, Virginia in 1760. I have found their name spelled with a "K" in
South Carolina.
Thanks for any help,
Mickey
