Marjean asked me to clarify which Carscadden line my book is on and I would
be glad to. I was trying to be careful as I did not want people to think I
was trying to flog something. However I wanted to let you know about it
because, if it is your line, it would be of immense help. Plus, I have to
admit that I am proud to have gotten this far in the research.
This line began as Corscadden and became Carscadden shortly after they
arrived in Ontario, from Fermanagh Co., Ireland, in 1837 and 1839. Several
people have asked about the brothers Alexander and William Henry Cascadden
and they are not in this line. The R was used quite consistently in the
spelling of the last name in this group.
Most of this clan is found in the Durham, Simcoe and Grey counties of
Ontario so if you have family there it might connect. Just email me and I
will look it up. There is another Carscadden clan that settled in the
Russell area of Ontario and I have not been able to connect to them,
although I did get a lot of information on them just through doing the
research on the Carscadden line. Most of the times when the name was spelt
Cascadden it did not connect to this group.
Hope that helps.
Isabel
