Isabel,
A number of people have been asking if the Carscadden line your book covers
is any connection to the brothers, Alexander and William Henry Cascadden,
whom eventually settled in Elgin County, Ontario. To the best of my
knowledge, there has been found NO connection between our families, although
some members of both families were in Essex County, Ontario. Please correct
me if I am wrong about this. Of course the families might be connected back
in Ireland, but there is no known connection at this point.
Some differences between the families are that although both of these
families were in Ontario, the families of William Henry and Alexander
Cascadden very seldom appear with an "R" in the name. I believe your family
almost always does use an "R". William Henry and Alexander were from the
Parish of Drumholm, County Donegal, Ireland and came to the U.S. around
1790. I believe your family did not leave Ireland until around 1830.
Perhaps you could provide a few more details on your Carscadden family to
help people determine if their line is included or not.
Thanks,
Marjean
