I think that I received the Rowe Manuscript from papers that had belonged to my late
father-in-law Arthur Cascadden. He had dabbled in Cascadden Genealogy and I believe was in
touch with the late Horatio Nelson Cascadden years ago. I'll have to dig into my
papers to see if I am correct. If not I'll be sure and post where I got the papers
from.

John,
No, the Rowe manuscript does not reference any individual, or have any
general information on Cascadden families in what is now Quebec. It is only
about the descendants of William Henry Cascadden, whom died 14 Mar 1850 in
Elgin County, Upper Canada. There are brief references to the family (mainly
births of the children) while they were in Pennsylvania, but the rest of the
manuscript only deals with the family in Upper Canada/Canada West/Ontario
and their migrations westward in the U.S. and Canada. There is a brief
introduction, giving variations of spelling of the surname and it discusses
possible origins in Scotland.
I thought the manuscript had been microfilmed by the LDS, but apparently I
was incorrect about that. I believe I have a complete copy (about 65 pages
including the Introduction and a letter written by Mrs. Rowe) and can make a
duplicate for anyone for the cost of photocopying and shipping. I received
bits and pieces of the manuscript over the years from various people, but I
think it was Jeannine Cascadden whom was finally able to provide me with a
complete copy. Jeannine, maybe you could answer where you found a complete
copy?

Marjean

Hello Marjean,
On 30 April 1999, you posted a message that had a reference to a
1972 manuscript by Kathleen Cascadden Rowe. I would like to ask two
questions about it.
1) Does the manuscript have any information about Cascadden families, or
individuals, who lived in the Quebec Privince of Canada ( also Canada East
and Lower Canada ) ?
2) Is the manuscript available for genealogy researchers to study ?
