Thanks for the additional information. I have not yet looked at the 1871
Simcoe county census, but hope to in the next few weeks. The index to the
census gives her religion as Wesleyan Methodist, but I have seen her listed
as Baptist in earlier censuses. Having a child out of wedlock may help
explain why she left Elgin County, and moved all the way up to Simcoe as a
single woman. If you happen to have anything else on Eliza, I would be
interested.

I did find Eliza in my research. She was living in someone else's house as
a maid and had a child out of wedlock with her. I think his name was
Haiden. I wasn't able to connect them to my line and seem to recall that
she wasn't Methodist while almost all the line I was researching was.
