Hi -
I have been researching my family, the primary spelling variation is CARSCADDON,
though as I am sure you have found, have varied greatly throughout the years.
The info I have so far ends with a Rebecca Kaskaden, reported on the 1850 and
1860 North Carolina census's. She was apparently born in Ireland between 1800
and 1804. She was widowed
by 1850...I have no reference to her husband. She had several children...To
begin with she had:
William November (2)9, 1828 in Pennsylvania?
Elizabeth c. 1831 in Pennsylvania?
Richard c. 1833 in Virginia
Samuel ? c. 1836 in North Carolina
Laura? c. 1838 in North Carolina
My line descends through William. I have pretty complete information from him
down to me...I just need stuff from his mother/father back. William's 2
brothers: Samuel and Richard Carscaddon/Cascaddon/Caskaden, etc. are mentioned
in the 1860 census for Statesville, Iredell County North Carolina area.
William married Mary Magdaline Lippard, daughter of William Lippard, of Iredell
County, NC.
He served in the 48th Regiment Co. C of the North Carolina Confederate Army. He
died in a confederate hospital in Richmond, Virginia in 1863/4.
I believe that William's father's name was Richard, and that he was from
Amherst, Virginia...but I have no proof. Looking at the 1840 census for that
area, Richard is shown with the right number of people in the right age groups.
I would love to make a connection to confirm or deny this belief.
I was wondering if anyone out there could help me find the "missing link"
between my Carscaddon/Cascaddons and the rest of the family. My branch is
apparently a "lost tribe"!

Hello everyone,
Since the list has been a bit quiet lately, and a number of new members have
subscribed, I thought it would be a good idea to do a roll call. If
everyone would list their earliest Cascadden ancestor, and then trace the
line until the Cascadden name dies out (or as far as you are comfortable
with), maybe we can find some connections.
All of these messages will be stored in the threaded archive on rootsweb,
and will be available to search later.
I will start with mine:
Alexander CASCADDEN, b. before 1782 Ireland; d. shortly before 14 May 1851
in Malahide Township, Middlesex (now Elgin) County, Canada West (now
Ontario). Married Nancy BALE/BAYLE about 1807-8. Nancy was born before
1796, probably about 1790, in Pennsylvania and died after 9 September 1854.
It would appear that Alexander's brother, William H. Cascadden, married
Nancy's sister, Elizabeth Bayles.
Elizabeth CASCADDEN, daughter of Alexander and Nancy (Bale) Cascadden, was
b. between 1812 and 1815 in Middlesex (now Elgin) County, Upper Canada;
married 22 June 1834 in London District, Upper Canada to Aladdin Perrin
STEVENS. They moved to St. Clair County, Michigan before 1850. She died 3
September 1874 in Port Huron, St. Clair Co, Michigan
