I am the great-grandaughter of John (Giovanni) Casazza. He immigrated to New
York then to Vineland about 1875 when he was about 10 with his mother
Magdelena and younger brother James. There father never came to America. He
might have died while working around a port in Genoa which is where we think
John, James and Magdelena were also from. Magdelena remaried Luigi Scrivani
and made there home here. She was a little women but very strong. She had
seven more children with Luigi. James and John both completed school here and
then went on to college at Cornell University for Agriculture. James settled
in upstate New York. John came back to Vineland. He married Catherine
Ferretti from Philiadelphia in 1897. Together, they had 7 children. My
greatgrandfather and his sons established one of the largest farms in
southern New Jersey. His son, Louis was my grandfather and Louis's son Robert
Casazza is my father. I am looking for ties to my family in Genoa. I was
always told that my greatgrandfather John had a cousin Lou in North Jersey or
New York. I am sure I have many relatives and I look forward to finding them.
