Dear Listers,
I'm looking for ancestors for my Mary/Marie CASAVOY/CASAVAH (among other
spellings in VT records) b. abt 1833, Canada. She married, 1847, Benson, Rutland,
VT, Louis/Lewis DUQUET, dit DEROCHER/DESROCHERS ( name changed to STONE by
1950 Benson, VT Census).
Listed in the Civil War Pension Records for Lewis DUQUET/STONE are siblings
for Marie CASAVAH/CASAVOY. They are Adelia, b abt 1836, and Louis, b abt 1839,
both Canada. Adelia married Frederick PITTS. Marie (CASAVOY) STONE died
1903, Danby, VT and Adelia (CASAVOY) PITTS, died 1924, bur Tinmouth, VT Cem.
There is a Louis CASAVAH/CASSAVAUGH b abt 1839, Canada, m. Margaret O'BRIEN,
res. Wallingford, VT in 1880 Census with Louis' mother, Angeline. I believe
this is the Louis, son of Felix and Angelique (ELIE-BRETON) CASAVAUGH/CASAVANT
who married 18 Jan 1825 St-Antoine-sur-Richelieu, Que. It's possible that
this Louis could be brother to my Mary/Marie, but no proven documentation as yet.
My Marie (CASAVOY) STONE had chil. Henry, Frank, *Marceline (Marcia), Mary
William, Edward, Peter, Phillip and Maurie.
I would love to hear from anyone with any input on the Rutland County, VT
CASAVAH/CASAVOY/CASSEVAUGH/CASAVANT lines. I've been researching them for YEARS!
