Hi Norm,
I found Nick's CASSAVAUGH/CASAVOY lines in
Ancestry.com. I don't recognize
any except Angleine and Louis listed as being in Rutland Co. VT 1860 Census,
but with no connecting ancestors.
In
www.ancestry.com I found in the 1850 Brandon, Rutland, VT Census the
following:
CASSIVAN, Philex, 52, b Canada, Laborer
" Angeline, 48, "
" Adelaide, 13, " (this must be the Adelia/Delia m.
PITTS)
" Octave, 10, " (this must be the Louis in 1860)
" Aramini, 6, (female), b Canada
" Samuel, 3, b VT
Looks like they came to VT between 1844 and 1847
If my Mary is their dau., she is living with husband, Lewis STONE in Benson,
VT in 1850, with a son, Lewis, 1 yr.
In 1860 Benson, Rutland, VT Census is:
CASAVAH, Angeline, 50 or 60, Widow, b. Canada
" Lewis, 19 "
" Clarisa, 8, b. VT
" Samuel, 11,
In 1860 Benson is my Mary and Lewis STONE as follows:
STONE, Lewis, 40, Farm Laborer, b Canada
" Mary, 35 "
" Henry, 9, b VT
" Sufrie?, 5, "
" Misline( prob. Marcelline-my Marcia, 3, b VT
" Infant, 2/18 "
Also in Benson, 1860 is:
PITTS, Frederick, 36, Day Laborer, b NY
" Delia, 20 or 26, b Canada
" Ella S., 2, b VT
" Aaron L., 2, "
My Mary and Lewis STONE are in Mt. Holly, Rutland, VT in 1870
Frederick and Delia PITTS are in Castleton, Rutland, VT in 1870
In 1870 Castleton, Rutland, VT Census is Lewis, as follows:
CASABAL, Lewis, 26, Farm Laborer, b Canada (CASABAL--that's a new one!)
" Margaret, 20, b Wales
" Nellie, 6/12, b VT
" Willie, 2, b VT
In 1880 Wallingford, Rutland, VT Census is:
CASSAVAUGH, Louis, 40, Laborer, b Canada
" Margaret, 30, b VT?, f & m b Ireland
" William, 12, b VT
" Nellie, 10, b VT
" Mary, 6, "
" Lena May, 2/12, b VT
" Angeline, 74, Mother, b Canada
Also, in Wallingford is Frederick and Delia (CASAVA) PITTS with dau., Jessie,
13.
I cannot find Angeline anywhere in 1870. I put in Angeline with no last name
and with all the various CASAVAS with the soundex selection, but nothing came
up.
This is probably more information than you care to
have!.................Janet
