Hi Norm,
I dug out the Pension Records of my Lewis/Louis DUQUET/STONE who married
Marie/Mary CASAVOY/CASAVAW/CASAVAUGH/CASAVANT and read over all the information.
I'm convinced, more than ever, that the Louis that married Margaret O'BRIEN
is my Mary's brother, and I know that the Adelia/Adelaide that married
Frederick PITTS is Mary's sister. That would mean to me that my Mary CASAVAH/CASAVANT
must be a daughter of Felix and Angelique/Angeline CASAVANT, as are Louis and
Adelia. (Angeline is living with Louis and Margaret CASAVAUGH in
Wallingford, VT. 1880 Census.) In the Pension Records, it states that Louis CASAVAUGH
and Adelia PITTS are both living in Wallingford, VT in November, 1903, and swear
that they saw their sister, Mary, marry Lewis/Louis STONE, by a Minister, in
their father's home, 1848, in Benson, Rutland, VT. In the 1850 Benson,
Rutland, VT Census, I believe Felix and Angeline are living with Louis and Adelaide
and younger siblings, and in 1860, Angeline is a widow living with Louis and
younger siblings. Would have to look it up again for details. (Maybe they're
living in the nearby town of Brandon in one of these Census Records)
I do have more info on this Louis, Adelia/Adelaide and my Mary from VT Vital
Records as follows:
Adelia/Adelaide CASAVAH b 11 Jan 1836 Canada, d 25 Dec 1824 (res.
Wallingford, bur. Tinmouth, Rutland, VT), m Bef. 1858 (poss. NY) Frederick PITTS, b 25
Oct 1831 Crown Point (res. Granville), NY., d 29 Apr 1891 (res. Wallingford,
bur. Tinmouth). Adelia and Frederick's chil: Ella S. PITTS b Abt 1858, Aaron
L., b 11 May 1860, Williard (Willie) b 18 June 1862, Willie b 18 May 1865,
Jessie Anna b 11 July 1866, Lena M. b 24 July 1863.
Louis CASAVAH/CASAVAUGH b 3 Feb 1839, Canada, d. 8 Aug 1915, Wallingford,
Rutland, VT, bur. St. Patrick's Cem., Wallingford, m Margaret O'BRIEN (no date),
Margaret was b Abt. 1848, Wales, d 21 Jan 1912, Wallingford, bur. St. Patricks
Cem. Don't have any children recorded for Louis and Margaret. (There
probably are some in VT Records-just didn't copy them. I'll look next time I go
to
the Pittsfield, MA Atheneum, which has all VT Records on film.)
My Marie/Mary CASAVOY/CASAVAW b April, 1833, Quebec, d 11 Dec 1903, Danby,
Rutland, VT, m Lewis/Louis DUQUET/STONE 5 Sept 1848, Benson, Rutland, VT. Lewis
was b Mar 1815/16 poss. St. Joseph, Levi, Que., d 3 Sept 1903, Danby. Their
children are:
Louis b Abt. 1849, Henry b Abt. 1851, Frank b Abt 1853, *Marcelline/Marcia b
May 6, 1856, Mary b Abt. 1860, William b Abt. 1865, Edward b Abt. 1868, Peter
b Abt 1873, Phillip b Abt. 1875, Maurie or Mamie b Abt. 1877. (Two chil. died
young--I think Mary and Louis. In the Pension Records it lists 8 living
children.) One thing is confusing--in Mary (CASAVOY) STONE's death record, her
father's name is listed at "Louis," with no mother liisted. But you know
how
death records are, many times the contributor of information doesn't know, or
misunderstands the questions, or whatever???? Felix died before most of Mary
and Lewis STONE'S chil. would remember him, and I believe hFelix's father's
name
was Louis, and who knows, maybe Felix was called Louis??????
I'll look again in the 1850 and 1860 Census listing for more of Felix and
Angelique's children and see if I can find their birth and marriage records in VT
Vitals.
Hope this helps your records, and let me know what you think about Mary,
Adelaide/Adelia and Louis being siblings.................Janet
