Here is a separate page that was among Aunt Mae's papers:
Benjamin F. Carey raised his family, lived mostly up on Rock Castle
Creek on Tug River South of Louisa, Lawrence County. Nancy Ann Carey had
blue eyes, dark brown hair nearly black. She was medieum sized woman
and had a narrow fair face.
When Uncle Henry Carey joined the army in the Civil War, he spelled his
name Cary, but was told that the correct spelling was Carey, so he
changed the spelling to Carey. John said the Irish branch spelled it
Carey and the English branch spelled it Cary
John is a very religious man and believed sincerely in prayer. He said
that there was a rock in the creek by his house which was channelling
the water toward his bank and he was afraid it would wash his bank
away. He prayed for the rock to be moved and the high water came and
washed the rock away from his bank and prevented the bank from eroding.
24 years before his telling me of this, he had a carbunkle and was very
ill. He dreamed he died and went to a strange and beautiful place.
Fred M. Carey was the son of William Henry Cary. He was 61 years old
and had a stroke
