Hello,
This is my first post to the Cary list. I descend from Daniel Cary
married to Susanna Fox in Amherst Co.,VA on Nov 11,1799. Their daughter
Sarah Cary married William Miles Fox and were found first in 1830
Greenbrier Co.,Wv census. Other Carys (Henry & James) were listed in
Greenbrier Co.,WV on the 1820 census and Solomon Cary Jr from Nelson
Co.,VA was found there in 1830.I am trying to find possible relations to
other Carys in the area and possible ancestors of Daniel Cary. The
earliest Cary names I have found in the Albemarle, Amherst, Nelson
Co.'s,VA area are Henry, Arhcibald, Miles, and James Cary from
1740's-1780 time period in VA. The Carys which were found later during
the time period of my Daniel Cary are Solomon Sr, Solomon Jr, Daniel, &
William from 1790's to 1850's.
Several request and questions:
1) If you can connect to any of the earlier Carys listed in the
information below would you please contact me with the information you
have concerning these Carys: Henry, Archibald( Old Iron), Miles, and
James.
2.) Any information on the James & Henry Cairy/Cary/Carey in Greenbrier
Co.,(W)VA on the 1820 census.
3.) Does anyone have information on a Solomon Cary that had a son James
Cary in Accomack Co.,VA in the 1700-1760 time period. I had seen this
listed on a website.
4) Information on Carys from Md. Solomon Cary Jr was listed as born in
MD on his 1850 Greenbrier Co.,WV census. I have seen a Solomon Cay
listed for census of MD from 1790-1850 on the World Family Tree website
under the Family Finder index. I do not have a birthplace of my Daniel
Cary. He made his will in 1820 Hawkins Co.,TN. His wife and children
were still in Nelson Co.,VA and were later found in Greenbrier Co.,WV.
Daniel Cary sold most of his land before 1810 in VA and was not listed
on any of the VA census. The lack of an 1820 TN census for that part of
TN also does not give me a clue to his age. I have yet to thoroughly
research the records of Albemarle, Amherst, Nelson Co.,VA to find
further clues, but hope to do so in the near future.
Hope to find find more information and make possible connections.
Sincerely,
Lyle LeMasters
