Jay,
I know that you have a keen interest in John's lineage from England. Have
you been in contact with Richard Whitaker and seen his site?

I don't follow the England lineage, but am curious why I don't hear more of
Richard's site. Is it "accurate"?

Lisa,
It is as accurate as any, which is to say that there are two big uncertainties
in the English lineage as is usually presented. First, there has never been
definitive proof of the parents of John Cary, the Plymouth Pilgrim. Second,
there is likewise no definite proof of the parents of William Cary (1492-1572).
The Bristol Carys were acknowledged to be a cadet branch of the family and
entitled to use the coat of arms, but the exact link to the earlier ancestors
has not been proved. I think the best sources of the English lines are the
following:
Fairfax Harrison, The Devon Carys - This has the best primary research that I
have found and I haven't seen much recent research which would supersede this
book, and
The Visitations of the County of Devon Comprising the Herald's Visitations of
1531, 1564, & 1620, with Additions by Lieutenant Colonel J. L. Vivian - this
covers most of the branches of the English Carys
