Jay and anyone else who would like to comment,
I came across the following information on microfilm. This refers to
John Cary (b. 1610 d. 1681).
"John, as a youth, was sent to France to expand his education. While
there his father died. Upon returning to Somerset, England, a dispute
arose with his brothers concerning the settlement of the estate. John
accepted 100 pounds and soon after booked passage to America."
Records of Helen Wilkinson Reynolds, Birdsall to DeLong. LDS film #
0931488.
All the other information I have seen gives the death date of John's
father, John, as 1661. Am I correct in assuming that there isn't any
thing to the above story?
Also, did John's father, John (b. 1583) have two wives? 1) Elizabeth
Hereford (d. ca 1617) 2) Alice Hobson ? I know that Miles Cary, John's
brother, was born ca 1720. And that Miles' descendents believe Alice
Hobson was Miles' mother.
