South Kingstown, 10 June 1751: "Where as This Councl. was Informed that There
was a poor male Child Cal'd John Cary at Mr. Benedict Helme, the father
absconded and Left the Colony, the mother being in Such poor and Deplorable
Surcumstances Not able to Provide for sd. Child in Consideration of which it is
Voted that Said John Cary be bound an apprintice to Mr. Benedict Helme for
foreteen years at the Exparation of which time he will be twenty one years of
age if Living sd master to Larn his apprintice to Read and Write and to make

His Warrant to ye Town Serjant to Forth With Carry Marsey Cary out of sd Town to
