Dear David,
Thanks for the information on the Cary DNA project. I have looked at the
site, and corresponded with Sean Cary Gilsun who is coordinatring the project,
and I am very interested in participating. I see that about half of the
partiicipants are in the line of Thomas of Maryland, and that there are a bunch
of others unrelated to that line. I am descended from John Cary of Bridgewater.
Because there may be male-line connections between the lines from the
Massachusetts, Virginia and Maryland colonial immigrants, I think it might be
important to get participants from all those lines. Even if there are no
connections, it would be good to establish what the DNA markers are for each of
the colonial immigrants.
Having said that, do you think that people from non-Maryland immigrants
should start a separate DNA project? I have some contacts with other male Cary
descendants who I could encourage to join the project who might broaden the
sample somewhat.
It will be interesting to see the results as they are posted.

Dear Jay
The web site you want is
_http://www.careycary.org/_
(
http://www.careycary.org/)
That will get you the home page where you can click on DNA PROJECT.
While most of the organization's members are descendants of Thomas Cary,
the Maryland Immigrant, the organization is for members of any and all Cary
and Carey families.
Your address suggests you may be a descendant of John Cary, the Plymouth
Pilgrim, or James Cary of Cambridge/Boston fame. I correspond with some of
John's living relatives who might be interested in starting a DNA collection
from his descendants.
Let me know if/how I can help.
David Carey
