I think the book you saw was, Westward Ho, by Charles Kingsley
first published in 1896 in England, the best American copy is published by
Scribner in 1920,, it goes for about $150/$200 ...Its a nice book but about
a fictional person names Cary. The fiction I collect is written by Cary's.

You might be interested in the book below. I saw a special illustrated
edition
of it at a bookstore in Norwich, VT. As I recall, it was a little
pricey
for
me. It is fiction and features a sailor and explorer by the name of
Cary
from
Clovelly. Let me know if you are interested and I'll see if they
