So glad to make the connection! I never really got to know my cousins, as all lived far
away. I think Grandpa Cary may be buried in Long Lake, NY. I don't remember if there
was a stone for Grandma, because she gave her body to science. I remember the two little
stones that said "Baby" on them for the two of 11 children that did not make it.
I did not know Grandpa Cary because he died around 10 yrs before I was born. I will see
next time I visit my dad if he has any more info. As a young child, up until I was 19 yrs
old, I used to go to Long Lake every summer with my mother on vacation to visit her
sister, Aunt Dean (Geraldine) Parker. For a while, Grandma Cary lived with Aunt Dean, so
I would get to see her every summer. She did a lot of sewing.....made a lot of her
grandchildren's clothes. I remember her nice sewing room, and loved to watch her
sewing. It was such a neat place, I think used to be an Inn, as there were numbers on all
the bedroom doors upstairs. Aunt!
Dean's husband Harry Parker died the same year as Grandma Cary in 1973. After that
Aunt Dean didn't seem well. She sold their house and bought a smaller place in Long
Lake. They found she had Alzheimer's. She went and lived with her brother, Bruce, I
think. Bruce lived with Aunt Dean as a child, I think to keep him in the Long Lake
school. Grandpa was 20 yrs older than Grandma, and had passed away when Bruce was very
young. He was in his 60's and died of asthma related pneumonia. At my Dad's, I
have seen a couple letters he sent to my mom a while before he died. Happy to share this
info with you. My mom, Ada-Belle Cary Estey, died Dec 6, 1992 at the age of 70. If you
answer my note on Facebook we can communicate thru email. Thank you!
