Listers may be interested to visit the following site:
http://www.werelate.org/wiki/James_Cary_Descendants_and_Allied_Families
This site, which is still (and hopefully forever!) 'under construction',
follows the two lines of descent (American and English) from James Cary,
as shown above - but with much more detail. And it invites contributions
from any other researchers into either of these lines and their related
families. It is a 'wiki'-style site - so it is open to all who register
on it to make their own additions and/or modifications.
This, of course, has both its advantages in the facility for researchers
to contribute and share their findings in one freely accessible location
online; and its potential disadvantages in the same facility, whereby
previously 'accurate' information might be subsequently altered by a
misinformed contributor. However, the original or previous poster can
always 'argue' his or her case and put it back the way he or she had it
- always assuming he or she is still around to do so! I must admit to
being a little unsure as to whether the advantages outweigh this
potential disadvantage. But nonetheless, I do find myself continuing to
add my own contributions regardless - while keeping a close eye on it to
see how it goes - and hopefully 'grows'.
I would welcome any comments/opinions on this.
Regards,
Robin Cary Askew
