Mary Cary born 1837 in Missouri is shown as wife of Ebenezer P Large born 1840 in Indiana
in US census for Oregon 1880 Brush Creek ( Crawfordsville region near Brownsville) census
in Oregon. The children showing are listed as step children, so they bear the former
married name of Mary's first husband which is Cary.
Her daughter is listed as Ann Cary, age 22, (she was born 1857 for certain) and born in
Oregon. Ann's true name Cornelia Ann Cary but she went by Ann during her life, and
she is related. She married Edwin James Simmons who was brother of William Simmons, Jr.
who ran flour mills.
Additional daughter is Margret CARY ( Margaret ) b 1860, Sarah CARY b 1864 and Thomas B
CARY born 1866. When Cornelia Ann died she was survived by her sister, Sarah, above, who
had married a McDowell and her brother Thomas. The McDowell members of that locality
ran sawmills thus McDowell road and McDowell creek exist to this day and may have arrived
about the same time to Oregon. The man running those sawmills was David McDowell.
I know that Mary Splawn married W H Cary and that Ebenezer was husband number two so the
above all matches the old CARY bible once found by Deana Campbell. Who can share
additional information on those above ?
