We have a John Cary in our family tree, but do not know much about him,
except he had a daughter Maria bn around 1805 in Long Buckby
Northamptonshire, England, and when I made enquiries re him to the
Northamptonshire, England list, this was one of the replies:
.....I wonder whether they could be connected to the Carey family of
Paulerspury. William Carey bapt there 22 Aug 1761, son of Edmund and
Elizabeth was the William Carey who became the minister of the Baptist
chapel at Moulton. He later founded the Baptist Missionary Society in
1792. I am sure there issomeone on the list who knows more about him
than me. I think the Baptist chapel in Moulton is called the Carey
Chapel.
There are no Careys/Carys in the 1777 Militia lists for the county, so
it seems to be an uncommon name in Northamptonshire.
