The Elishas in the Paul Allred post are from the Wright line I believe is mine. The
Elishas in my line were born Montague 1741 and 1780. Elisha (b. 1741), wife of Sarah
Merriman died about 1828 and Sarah died 1824 in Montague, so a second marriage for this
Elisha is possible, but Eunice is only about 20, and Elisha, to my knowledge, continued to
live in Montague after Sarah's death (so being born in Montague and living in Montague
might eliminate the "of Bernardston" portion of the intention). Regarding the
younger Elisha, Montague vital records and MA VR to 1850 show Mrs. Elisha Wright dying
1863 (Grave markers for Elisha and Martha are in the Old South Cemetery, Montague), so I
if I'm in the correct Wright family, a second marriage for Elisha born 1780
doesn't fit. The other Elisha was born 1786 (son of Abner and Anna) in Bernardston and
died, per "The History of Bernardston", in 1827, unmarried - that means he was
not married at the time and not necessarily that he had ne!
ver married. A marriage in 1817 is certainly possible for this Elisha, but as I said, I
have not been able to find any information for him.
This Elisha Wright of Bernardston is a new one to me so hope fellow Wright researchers or
a connection through the Cary/Carey side of the marriage may provide some clues.
